Canizales was one of the more talented bantamweights of all time, but his resume was extremely disappointing and he struggled with some lesser guys.

When he finally moved up to 122 (after years of killing himself to make 118) he lost to Wilfredo Vasquez and got ouboxed WIDE by Junior Jones.

So how does he stack up to the bantamweight greats? Who's the best guy you could see him beating, and if he was prime today, would you take him over Inoue?

He is a bit of an enigma IMO. I would rate him higher H2H as his title reign was pretty poor in comparison to ATGs, and he definitey underperformed in certain performances. However, he had an awesome style and skills that matches up well with even the best fighters, but I could never favour him heavily due to the aforementioned points.

I love watching him on film. And yes, George, I think he beats Veeraphol.

Also, Canizales had a beard. I don't know if Inoue could stop him.

    No way Inoue stops him.

    I think Canizales-Inoue is a distance fight.

Yeah, from what I saw of his chin in the Jones fight at 122, it is very likely. The problem with Canizlaes is he is a massive what if, and some of his more lax performances make him even harder to judge, so picking him over ATGs just doesn't feel right most of the time.

Don't worry Rough, we're all allowed to be wrong once or twice. It's okay that you don't pick Sahaprom. He did beat the shit outta your favourite twice.

Ring Mag had Canizales ranked top 5 P4P 92-94 - in 94 he was ranked at #3 behind only Whitaker and Roy.

As for Canizales vs Sahaprom, yeah I just see Orlando as the more dynamic, special talent assuming both on their A games.
