Who wins? Not gonna lie, I only made 122 an option to be cruel to Hamed. Gomez would beat Naz within an inch of his life at 122. 126 get's more interesting, and Hamed admittedly accomplished more at the weight. But would I pick him? Still no. He has a puncher's chance, but if Gomez boxed the way he did against Laporte, I don't see Hamed winning - a puncher's chance, sure, but the thing is....Gomez never got taken out with one punch. It took a beating to stop him, and I don't think Hamed had the skill set to give Gomez a beating. There's a rather gigantic gap in quality in between Sanchez/Nelson and Hamed. I think he'd find Wilfredo Gomez just a taaddddd bit harder to solve than Wilfredo Vasquez. Gomez is too good a technician at either weight, imo.
Interesting choices. I have not watched enough of Hamed at SBW but my initial thought is might not be experienced enough at this stage to deal with the skill and tactics of Gomez. I will give Gomez the edge based on that but it is admittedly a pick from guesswork and nothing I feel strongly about. Gomez while great is vastly overrated IMO from 126 and above. I think Hamed at his best beats him and while he is a level or 2 below Sanchez and Nelson I still think he is good enough to beat Gomez here. I would t be surprised by Hamed stopping him either, but will go with a pts win as my pick.
