    Probably Margarito, sadly.

Really? I think prime Brown would give Margarito a beating. Marg is kinda made for Brown.

Yeah, I think Margarito takes Brown out. Brown was quite one-paced when he fought on the back-foot, and he reverted to that mode when he had someone come at him. For me, Brown would have to break Margs down, as Margarito could definitely take one or two from Brown. I think Margarito's pressure and power eventually breaks Brown. And even if Brown does go all out and attack Margarito, I think he'd be worn down himself and out-muscled.

I gotta disagree. I see a guy as hittable as Margarito as made to order for the late 80s Brown.

Simon would take him apart in a longer version of the Vaca fight.

I think to beat a prime Brown you either need to be a slick technician, a speedster, or have REAL firepower like a Trinidad or Cuevas. Marg has none of the three.

Brown has a rather huge edge here in firepower, and in his prime his chin was pretty study itself. I see Brown breaking Margarito down to the body and stopping him circa round 9-10.

Brown is a really underrated puncher. Marg isn't gonna just walk through Brown's best shots the way he did Cotto.

I don't think he'd have to walk through so many though, which is where my point stands. Brown wouldn't throw as many as Cotto did, which would mean Margarito doesn't have to take quite as much punishment. I don't think Brown has the chin to win a war with Margarito.

There was nothing wrong with Brown's chin. Matter of fact, he was once known as having one of the better chins in boxing during his reign.

People remember the Pettway KO from when he was well past his prime.

Marg was never a big banger. He took 11 rounds to dispatch of fragile Cotto. I don't see him having the firepower to break down Brown.

I'm not saying there was anything wrong with it, I'm saying it'll let him down before Margarito's lets him down.

Again. I don't really see why people think Cotto was fragile. Might have been true at 140, when he was weight drained, but certainly not at the higher weights. You dont go 12 with Canelo of you're fragile

I agree with Xplosive on this one. I think Brown is a bad match up for Margarito. Coming at Brown was a bad idea and Margarito is there to be hit. Brown is also a bit slicker than folks remember and his counter right was beastly.

Guys like Trice that forced Simon to be more aggressive and work to close the distance gave him fits at times. Margarito will make it a war and Brown has the edge in power and has faster hands.
