After the Pryor beatdown, Alexis decides to go back down to Lightweight and defend against one of his two top challengers, Edwin Rosario. Can Rosario spring an upset against this version of Arguello or does his class show despite his advancing years?
Rosario would have a chance at that point, but given the huge gap in intangibles, I struggle to ever see Chapo beating Arguello. But it would be his best chance. Rosario has no chance with pre-Pryor Arguello.
Yeah, I wouldn't have matched the pre-Pryor version of Arguello with Rosario for that reason. I think it's competitive in '83.
Nah man . Arguello was always too good for Rosario. He might kd him at la Gannigan, but it gets worse for him as rounds goes by
Rosario would have to close distance in a fight with Arguello and he would pay for that. Arguello was sneaky about laying the jab out there for you to slip, and then walking you onto body punches as you moved in. Once Rosario started to hesitate at the end of the jab, Arguello would hit him with right hands and it doesn't go far beyond that point.
