After reading a recent thread in the general forum, I am very curious as to how you fine boxing scholars at fightbeat would see this match go down?

.... fantastic to see fightbeat once again the best place on the interwebz for boxing talk I think in my mind

Canelo has no chance of winning legitimately.

I concur... while I think alot of what Canelo does well can easily go unappreciated, when you start matching him up with blokes from times past his historical standing sobers up remarkably

Calz probably outworks him. But well see in a few years how good canelo is at 168

Canelo is no spring chicken. "In a few years" he'll be losing a step.

Yeah, but well have more of a sample size of his true worth at 168, since it seems he intends to fight here from now on

I don't think Canelo can do much to improve now. This is his peak. He can only really go down from here IMO, but I don't see it happening any time soon.

In past decades, he would be declining soon.

Now, Canelo can have a much longer prime, considering he only fights twice a year on the months he chooses (May and Sept), and of course, given his "very nutritious diet". *wink wink*

Calzaghe was much more dynamic than any of the SMW/LHWs that Canelo has fought so far. I have no doubt that Calzaghe would have slapped around Canelo enough to beat him by points.

I think Calzaghe would win this...but I don’t think Canelo would be an easy nights work for Joe (or anyone else).
