Lots of similarities between these two IMO. Both monster punchers with decent technical skills, long title stretches where neither faced the best in the division (for varying reasons). My inclination is that Khaosai was probably a little better due to being a bit harder hitting P4P, and being more urgent when he needed. I trust his intangibles more than I do GGG's. Golovkin is probably greater though, as I think it's likely his wins over Jacobs and Derevyanchenko are as good as any of Galaxy's. Likely better.
I'd give the edge to GGG on both counts. G's title unification and unofficial victory over Canelo secure his place as greater IMO. "Better" is tougher to call, but I think G was a bit more explosive against a comparable level of opponent (Galaxy more frequently had to work to wear down opponents) and he showed more wrinkles in his game with his clinic against Lemieux.
They're close as far as their record goes. Exciting fighters with a great punch, but their resume lacks quality. But I might have to go with GGG personally because of the fact that he's at least fought Canelo (and arguably one, if not both their fights) and Jacobs.
Depends on how high you rate guys like Payakaroon, Pical, Conteras etc as contenders. As for Payakaroon individually, I would rank him high H2H as a challenger, higher than basically all of GGGs challengers (He was this close to beating a verifiable ATG in Roman imo). Galaxy knocked that mofo down and had him skirting around, which I find very impressive. GGG benefits from being in a historical division with easily accessible media, so verifying how good a challenger is both presently and retrospectively is easy. A bastard division champ, from Thailand of all places, doesn't have that luxury. Even now, looking through Galaxy's Boxrec again, I'm seeing names that are a bit stronger than I used to think. (for example, Yong Kang Kim, who I initially would have thought as a 'weak' name when first learning of lower weight history, was actually pretty solid). I used to think Galaxy had an extremely weak resume. I now think he is in a 'Joe Calzaghe' situation.
