Canelo-Saunders: Predictions, Discussions, RBR

Saunders hasn't got the power to stop Canelo, and there's no way he's getting a decision against the Mexican money draw in front of a pro-Canelo crowd on a Cinco de Mayo weekend. He'll need to win the rounds to get a draw.

Saunders has the raw talent but he struggles to put it together for a full twelve. He fades late, drifts in and out of fights and has ended up making hard work of some fights which should have been straightforward. If Canelo has a chance to work the body and slow him down I can see him getting disheartened and maybe going into his shell and making it a survival job. I do wonder if the occasion will be too much for him.

If he comes with the pressure and replicates his Lemieux performance than he'll make Canelo look poor in patches at the very least. I just don't expect him to make much of an impression with the judges.

If Saunders wins, he'll still lose. Canelo by decision regardless of how Saunders performs is my best guess.

Saunders has the ability to outbox Canelo in spots, and I expect him to do so, but I just don't think he's good enough to do it consistently over the full 12.

 

Saunders will mix running with ambush stuff and play acting.

If Canelo dominates BJS tonight then Plant in September, ill objectively have to give him a lot of props.

Smith, BJS, Plant aren't greats, but still, it will mean that Canelo's beaten three quality, undefeated guys in less than a year.

 

BJS has come within a couple of rounds of losing on two occasions, but apart from that, yeah, he's still undefeated and he still knows how to box.

I will never be a fan of either.

 

I hate both these cunts, so tonight is both a win-win and a lose-lose.

There is something compelling about tonight though, as we'll find out how Canelo does against a quality southpaw. He ain't fought a quality southpaw in 7 years.

 

Truthfully I think it's a disaster for boxing if Saunders wins.

As bad as Canelo is and has been, it's better that he doesn't lose tonight to a guy who was fading faster than Joe Biden in the late rounds vs Euturd Jr and Andy "Son of the Son of the Legend" Lee.

Anybody - and bear in mind just who is saying this, ME- anybody who thinks that the likes of Saunders spending the next 3 months on TV parading their wares and chatting shit with their guts hanging out of their bellies is good for boxing.........needs their head examining.

Like a returning troupe of rampaging savages returning from a raid, roaring and shouting and being told what a success story they are by a gormless fawning media who is trying to tell us that this pack of inbred savages is some sort of goodluck story....FFS.

Ideally Canelo needs to kill this guy, drape him over the ropes and make an example of him.

Unfortunately he's too much of a short limbed slow fatty to do that, so settle in for 12 rounds of being told what an awesome Randy Turpin job Saunders is doing and how your seeing magic and history.

I just cannot justify putting money on Canelo to KO him especially early as I know that if Saundes so much as gets a sniff of danger he will be on his bike.

He WILL try to stand in the pocket and tag Canelo until/unless he feels it's diminishing returns, then he will go moving.

And Canelo will plod after him, throwing that right hand to the body.

This isn't GGG, GGG was what we call right there.

You can pick up a tonne of bricks but you can't pick up a gramme of mercury.

 

Yeah but I would take it fight by fight. Right now I'd take a Canelo win and start looking for my victory elsewhere.

And.......if Canelo finds himself in a hole and genuinely guts it out to take Saunders heart and stop him late, a la Chavez vs Taylor, we might be able to take some positives from it.

But right now it is Lose-Lose More.
