This fight is also on Saturday. Oubaali is a guy prime Donaire would have sent to the morgue, but who wins at this point?
that kid looks like a fuckin weirdo but he can fight. beat the hell outta santiago. and holds 3 wins in 4 fights over ennis. although (at least) one of his wins was a bullshit decision
Great fight, Subriel has reallly a great style. Will definitely keep an eye on him. Surprised he lost vs a bum not too long ago though
Oubalii is completely out. Surprised they allowed this to continue even though it was at the end of the round
Yeah, I was starting to get a little worried in the last round when he was teeing off on Jukambayev. Call me prude, but I felt the cut throat gesture at the end was a bit classless considering he killed a man. Still, Mathias is super fun to watch and definitely someone to keep an eye on.
Rewatching it, I'm wondering if Donaire should have been dqed or declare an NC. He clearly leveled Oubaali after the bell rang at the end of the 3rd round.
Donaire vs Chocolatito would be a crazy fight. Definitely on my top 10 wishlist even though I have Donaire as a significant favorite.
First bout I’ve seen in months. Watched it a day later. My Thoughts: Russell vs Santiago - Good decent fight. Russell looks talented although a bit sloppy in his technique. Mathias vs Jukembayev - I knew this would be a great fight when I saw the cut of them hitting the pads. I thought early that Jukembayev was the better technician and that he would win but Browny proved to be too big, too strong, and too durable. IMO Juk’s foot work was his issue. He wanted to fight from distance but didn’t seem to have the know how to consistently do it with his feet so he would constantly push Browny off him and more or less settle for infighting. Mathias seemed significantly bigger than Juk and if he ever learns to put his body into his shots instead of just arm punching he would be even more dangerous. Donaire vs Oubaali - The misses told me it was going to be a short one. So early in round one I said in that case Donaire is going to knock him out. She asked why and I said because Ouba (don’t you dare call him ali) has shit defense and is open to counters. It also didn’t help that Donaire pretty much said that was his game plan. I noticed later how much bigger Donaire was and if you factor in his style the KO was pretty much inevitable if not borderline unfair. I can’t stand these fights that have such size discrepancies, something needs to be done about unfair weight cuts. I did like the fact that two corners stopped their fighters from fighting on in hopeless outings. I felt Oubaali’s corner probably should have done the same especially against such a bigger opponent but I give them a pass seeing as how it was for the championship and factoring in Donaire’s age.
That would be a good one. Right now though Chocolatito is scheduled to fight Juan Francisco Estrada again on June 7th. I believe this is the third time even though Chocolatito won both fights by close decision. These were back when Chocolatito was the champ and I felt Juan arguably won one of those two fights. Anyway I’m a big JFE fan and will tuning in to this one.
Glad to see Donaire showing that he still has some fight left in him. He looked in top form against Oubaali, although I don't think anyone was ever really high on him from the get go. I think most people are just happy to see Donaire get another chance at redemption. He's always been a fan friendly fighter who gives his all, win or lose. Would love for him to fight the winner of Casimero vs Rigo, who knows we might even get a rematch between him and Rigo.
