If you think about it, if Tank loses to Barrios, he might be done. What's his fat ass gonna do if he can't beat Barrios? He'll be food at 140 for Prograis and Taylor, and he might struggle to even make 135 now. So yeah, I think of Barrios as kind of must-win for Davis. Also, Davis strikes me as a very emotionally unstable kind, and I don't see him mentally recovering from his first loss. Just a hunch.
If the news isn't Crawford is meeting with Haymon, then IDGAF. Who's he gonna face if he signs with MTK?
Kinehan shouldn't stand in the way of him facing pbc guys. At that point the blame should fall on haymon or crawford
well triller already got bumped off their original date by mayweather jr vs youtube fagget. this saturday there are a half dozen boxing cards AND the possibility of game 7 nets-bucks. AND for a lot of cities it will be the first saturday in 18 months when places are fully open as far as nightlife. it wouldnt shock me if the fight never happens and lopez ends up suing.
Sue for What? ‘Fimo’s the One Reneging on the Contractual Agreement? He’s the Reason the Show is Being Postponed/Cancelled? REED
if lopez doesnt have covid and they suggested to him to use this excuse to postpone the fight, then the fight never materializes. at that point maybe lopez has a case against triller for defaulting on their ridiculous purse bid offer. i have only seen triller announce he has covid so far
Lucky break for Thriller if that is really the case. I cannot imagine any scenario where this fight is not a huge money sink considering the amount they bid.
im listening to lopez on mario lopez/ steve kims podcast and he didnt mention anything about covid symptoms or feeling ill, etc. not sure when this was taped. as for who he prefers to face next, he said Taylor over haney.
COVID is usually asymptomatic, especially in younger people. It's no surprise that he had zero symptoms. Oh well, I don't give a shit that it's postponed. I wasn't gonna watch anyway. What I surmise might now happen now is, Fimo bashes Aussie bum in August, Taylor bashes Caterall in the Fall, and then Taylor-Lopez lands on ESPN PPV either late 2021 or early 2022.
Triller owner Ryan Kavanaugh comes across as one of the slimiest people I've ever seen, and none of us should support Triller, cause if you've seen the guy interviewed, you'd know that he INTENTIONALLY wants to turn our sport into a circus. DAZN is far more respectable, cause yeah, DAZN might be fuckin clueless and aren't afraid to put on a circus here and there to make a buck, but overall DAZN is far more respectful of preserving the sport's integrity than Triller is. I want boxing no where fuckin near Triller.
If you follow the news, Triller is also now planning to launch an IPO. They might be looking to slow down a bit on spending until they're a public company.
They can claim whatever they want. It might be true, it might not be. We'll never know for sure, but we'll get an indication that it's made up if the fight never happens.
No I haven't in fact . I knew they were doing the Tyson-Jones one though and it looked ok from the few highlights I watched. But didn't know they were the one showcasing this Paul garbage fights. So yeah, fuck then
This is what I mean about Kavanaugh wanting to turn the sport into a circus: He isn't a boxing guy, or even a sports guy. He's a Hollywood guy. He wants to turn the sport into a shit show. DAZN doesn't have many boxing guys, but at least they have sports guys, who understand better than the Triller guys the importance of somewhat preserving a sport's dignity. Kavanaugh has an extremely punchable face.
What these fuckin idiots in our sport don't get is, they can't understand why the UFC is killing us; they think its because the UFC is better marketed to the younger demo. It's partly that, but it's mainly because the UFC consistently has the best fighting the best, and we.... do FUCKING NOT... AT ALL! If these younger stars (Davis, Garcia, Fimo, Haney) all start fighting eachother, younger fans WILL come. But these fucking tards don't get it.
It's a bit of a myth that ufc have the best fighting the best. They are tons of high level fighters in other orgs that could be give ufc champs all they could handle. Thing is, in the public opinion, ufc is the only brand that counts. They sure do a better job than boxing though
I don't doubt it. Our sport is so retarded though, cause we SHOULD be murdering them. I can't name more than 1-2 newish UFC guys. The brand is more popular than the stars. We have the biggest star in all of combat sports (Canelo). And we have guys like Fimo, Davis, and Ryan who could POTENTIALLY be bigger than any UFC star if they were marketed and moved correctly. We just don't know how to run a goddamn thing. Arum is senile, Oscar is one of the dumbest individuals on planet Earth, and Eddie Hearn is just a used car salesman. Haymon is far and away the brightest guy in the sport with any power, but even he isn't making a substantial dent. Boxing vs UFC is a lot like the NBA vs NFL. We're the NBA, with the bigger stars. But the NFL is far and away bigger as a brand than the NBA, with much higher ratings.
Im not sure clenelo is a bigger star than McGregor, not that it makes me happy. But yeah, boxing is, as usual, shooting itself on the feet
I know that Canelo isn't bigger than McGregor. I meant among prime, active fighters. The current UFC model is identical to the current WWE model - Dana White is copying Vince McMahon's playbook. Create a bunch of borderline stars in an effort to keep the brand strong. Problem is, that strategy killed the WWE, compared to what it once was when they had GLOBAL stars like The Rock and Stone Cold. One day, it'll kill the UFC too if they can't produce a megastar.
It might have been the case with SF and (especially) Pride. Nowaday, Bellator is the only org I can think of that has decent fighters, but most of them are a level below. Furthermore, at least within the UFC, they usually make the premium match up happen. In boxing, even when both guy gave the same promoter, they usually want to ''marinate' the big fights instead of actually doing them.
I disagree completely, I think that focusing on the fighters instead of the sport itself is what has hurt boxing compared to the big leagues (NBA, NHL,... even tennis and F1 who are individual sports too)
