Who were the guys in history best closing the show once they got an opponent in trouble? I think the top 3 best all time finishers were: Leonard Louis Tyson I see a tiny bit of separation between them and the rest. When those three had you trouble, there was a 99% chance you weren't gonna survive. Other superb finishers: Arguello Olivares Pryor Robinson Foreman Ali Hagler Zarate Lil Red Lopez Gomez Saad Marciano Cuevas Trinidad Mosley Tszyu
Yeah, Lewis can be added to the list. He was an excellent finisher. Ricardo Lopez was a great finisher.
Ortiz, Monzon, Jofre, Napoles, Sugar Ramos, Ike Williams were all ruthless finishers once they had someone going. Benny Leonard too., and Chavez. Duran at lightweight imo. He got the likes of Hector Thompson, De Jesus, Bizzarro, Ortiz, Lampkin etc out of there pretty quickly once they were hurt. Cervantes is another who I think was usually clinical when it came to lowering the axe.
I don't think I'd have Tyson top three, but Ike Williams has to be top five IMO. Robinson was better at finishing somebody than Leonard IMO, although both were absolutely lethal. The way Robinson kicked it up a gear and put Jake LaMotta away was absolutely insane. Some other great finishers: Moore, Foster, Spinks, and Charles.
Not the first guy that jumps to mind, but toney was a great finisher. Once he hurt someone, he was going after him hard (though intellegently)
