What was the reason this fight wasn’t in England?

It's basically what had kept Wilder going since. He honestly, truly believes that Fury waking up from that punch was a fluke. Not that the punch was a 'fluke' which almost rescued a list cause in his part (which it was, really) but that Fury was the lucky one. He still believed it until last night. He may even still believe it, judging by the way he apparently went in in the immediate aftermath of his latest beating.

He's deluded. That's what that round did to him. It brought his downfall, and he got it hard.

    ESPN didn't want it here.

Same reason why Joshua-Fury was never gonna be here.

    Piss take really.

Yup it reminded me of the Canelo-Kirkland knockout. Obviously Lewis was a bigger puncher than Fury and nobody would ever question that but the way Fury landed right on the button would've knocked out King Kong. So the the power difference between Fury and Lewis is a moot point imo.

Ok, I can buy Wilder-Fury III being in Vegas.

But it's goddamn ridiculous not to place Fury-AJ in the UK.

You can't look past the fact that he's hitting a dead man.

It looked terrible, medieval, sort of a gladiatorial despatching...

... But you think of the great despatchings like Weaver vs Tate, Foreman vs Norton, Cooney vs Norton, Rocky vs Walcott... Those were surgical bombings.

Fury just swiped his stricken foe.

    He still got up, too..

Wilder was in with the wrong great; a guy who isn't a big puncher, so he took a beating.

Wilder would have been better off against a Mike, Lewis, or Foreman... at least those three would have put him out of his pain very quickly.

    I agree.

What made Fury's blow look so impressive was the manner of it.

It was like watching a person being eaten alive knowing they are being eaten alive.

Wilder was still trying to grab onto the rope on the way down. He was still there.

What makes it savage.... Is that he was trumying to grab onto the rope.

It was like watching Quint slide down the deck of his ship into the sharks mouth, it was how conscious he was of his fate that made it so horrific to watch.

Presuming they got him into that state in the first place. But once they did... Especially Mike and Lewis, they'd have surgically ended it with precision Bombs.

Last night, I was thinking about Lewis while watching the fight. I believe he would have beaten these 2 guys rather easily. I think he would have made short work of Wilder and his variety of punches and his footwork would have really troubled Fury. His jab alone would have been a challenge for Fury.

And yet, and yet, Warren was asked directly by Bunce about "what it takes to get this man a stadium fight in the UK" and all he could say was "its too early to tell".

Fury has NEVER had a World title fight or defence of same IN THE UK.

Its boggling. He's the man, he's the draw, and he's been on the road everytime.

AJ, the fraud, has been a stadium PPV attraction despite still being a phony Olympian the year AFTER Fury won the British title from an unbeaten Chisora.

Fury doesn't have the chin, really, but Lewis never faced a Fury either. I'd love to see Lewis eat a few jabs from a guy with arguably a bigger longer jab.

    Have to fancy Lewis BUT....

Lewis could fight inside when he had to and he could move at least as well as Fury. I think he'd win the battle of the jabs and with the variety of punches he had, he'd get Fury out of there or tame him and cruise to a decision. Wilder troubled Fury for a round with his belly jabs but couldn't sustain it, Lewis wouldn't have any problems flicking his jab for 12 rounds. I don't know, maybe I'm underestimating Fury but I really feel Lewis would have handled him comfortably.

It must be a very hard thing to stomach. It's like believing you had that winning lottery ticket and it went out in the bin.

Wilder knows that 1 second - and it is literally just that, a scientific fact of time- has decided his fate.

I don't think anyone should be questioning Fury's chin.

3 fights, 9 knockdowns, good stuff.

That's the worst I've seen Fury look since the first McDermott fight. He was so sloppy, he can box far better than that. Looked out of shape too, he was heavy for the second fight but he looked in much better nick. I guess it must be hard to get motivated for a guy you've already beaten convincingly (and he nearly paid the price for it), plus all the inactivity and delays leading up to it.

What in the fuck is Wilder ‘doing’ with his left hand there? Not quite a jab, not quite a push.. meanwhile standing there straight up with his chin stuck out and right hand just flailing uselessly at his side…

    Kellerman always has a spin.

After the 2nd fight , Kellerman tried to make out that it was all about Fury going to KRONK GYM! and getting a KRONK trainer! and and and and he always has to fucking get a "Made Somewhere Else" sticker put on the other guys product.

Skip Bayless doesn't count, as he doesn't know a fucking thing about any sport outside of the NFL.

Max is a boxing guy, therefore he's held to a higher standard.

I know but the Rock doesn't know shit either and his opinion is important cos he has 500,000 mongos reading his witterings on Instabook or some shit.

Skip crying about Fury leaning on people, ffs

This all started with the Cunningham fight where Nazim Richardson said that the only reason Fury was in the fight was his size.

This is worse than those idiots on social media with their horsehair/horseshit theories as people like Richardson and Kellerman have been around boxing as you say long enough to know a lot lot better.
