My opinion: Louis beats all three, Holmes loses to all three, and Liston-Frazier is perhaps the most 50-50 matchup in heavyweight history.

Im not sure Louis is sturdy enough to get past frazier and.liston. personally, i would make frazier the favorite.

Id take holmes to edge liston, but probably.lose to louis

I would agree that Holmes' best chance of a victory is with Liston.

Frazier is too relentless for Holmes, and Louis is too deadly accurate.

Frazier could wear down Louis and Liston... or, he could get blasted out by both.

I think Louis' offense is too much for Smokin Joe, personally.

Even though Louis had such beautiful technique, he struggled with several boxer-types. Conn, Farr, Godoy and Walcott all gave him more or less trouble, which is why I assume Holmes would too.

And yes, Holmes had his own difficulties against far lesser guys too, but Holmes' style and edge in size would decide it.

You can cite the style advantage, but Holmes doesn't have an appreciable size edge on Louis - other than reach, as Larry had freakishly long arms for his height.

Holmes was only an inch taller than Louis, and on average weighed maybe 8-10 more pounds. That's a big difference in the lighter divisions, but 8-10 pounds isn't significant among heavyweights.

I would have thought that the size difference was bigger than that

Liston beating Frazier, Frazier beating Louis, and Louis beating Liston is VERY possible.

I think it probably made more sense to put Mike in there instead of Holmes, so that we have four punchers.

I think Louis-Frazier is a true fifty-fifty, but I would side with Frazier as his left hook and suffocating pressure is exactly what Louis struggled with specifically, and I think a big part of why Foreman was able to do what he did to Frazier was down to having a massive advantage. Louis wouldn't have that, and on the inside, he'd be dealing with all the issues he had vs Galento and Godoy but from a much, much better fighter.
