Last time I checked, Bud knocked out the Cuban who easily beat Salido. And Bud's win over Gamboa looked better over the years considering Davis and Haney beat a washed up Gamboa far less impressively. There's nothing to debate here. Crawford's resume is better. Gamboa, Burns, Postol, Indongo (who was highly rated coming in) versus... who?? Who did Mikey beat? And HOW did he beat them? Unimpressive wins over Broner and Easter?
Tszyu Would Have to Be Favored, but the Mikey that Beat Broner and Bunny is a VERY Live Dog vs. Kostya... REED
Huhhh??? We must be viewing two different fighters. Mikey isn't beating Tszyu. We alllllllll know I'm no fan of Tszyu, but Tszyu was both too big and powerful for Mikey, and Tszyu was a better fighter.
Are You SURE???... Spence, Broner, Bunny, Lipinets, Vargas, Salido, JuanMa... Porter will HELP, But as REED Types, He's Not Sure WHO Has the Better Resume btwn Bud and Mikey... REED
JuanMa was absolutely shot to pieces. He shouldn't count. Broner and E-Bunny? Cmonnnn, you know that neither of those guys are special. Prime, undefeated Zab is better than anyone on Mikey's resume. Edit: Oh, thought we had shifted to Tszyu.
Tszyu Would LEAD, Which Would Allow Mikey to Play to His Strength; COUNTER PUNCHING... Mikey Could BANG a Little Bit @ '40 and Below... REED
I dont see Mikey with enough firepower to keep Tszyu off. I mean, there is the Philips loss, but Cool Vince was a bigger man and bigger hitter than Mikey. I view Tszyu as a better technician than Mikey, as I feel Mikey is vastly overrated as a technician. We all know the style it takes to beat Tszyu. A Pryor type that's gonna pressure Tszyu and give him no room to operate. You can counter punch Tszyu and win, but in that style, I think you have be a really masterful boxer like a Floyd, Benitez, Carlos Ortiz, ect. Mikey Garcia was a very good boxer, but fell short of great/masterful.
Nah, Bud beat Mikey in amateurs. I think Bud beat Mikey and Danny in the amateurs. Bud lost to Sadam Ali in the ammy's, maybe thats who you were thinking of.
While REED Can't DISagree Necessarily, Tszyu's a Weird One Bruh... He Had a SOLID Beard, Yet Tszyu NEVER Liked Getting Hit Either...On One Hand, WHO DOES (?), But the WAY Tszyu Reacted to Being Hit was Just DIFFERENT...Like AJ Different... You Could LITERALLY See Bits and Pieces of "Fight" Being Knocked Out of Tszyu, w/Each Landed Punch...He'd Have That Worried, Bug Eye'd Look On his Face and His Confidence NOTICEABLY Waned Every Time He Got Hit... REED's Point is, Mikey Would Land a LOT on Tszyu...And Who Knows What Happens from There???...Again, REED Would FAVOR Tszyu, But Mikey's Live AF in That One... REED
Speaking of overrated fighters. I see a lot of people rating Crawford very high on the p4p list. I've seen him #1,2,3 p4p on many people's list. I saw the same thing happen with another guy with a thin resume in Loma and look what happened. I'm not saying Crawford is a bad fighter but at this point he hasn't faced any of the top guys at the current weight class he's campaing in. The Porter fight will tell us a lot about where Crawford is in terms of talent.
That's truly fucking mad. Mike is a smallish lightweight. A fatty at 140. He'd get the MAG treatment, twice over.
Yeah I think so. He has some off road. I believe styles make fights. And slick boxers like Floyd gave Canelo the most problems. But the Canelo that fought Floyd is a different fighter. He's a more complete fighter that knows how to cut off the ring. I'm not so sure this version of Canelo loses to Floyd in a mythical match up. As a Canelo fan that's what makes the Caleb Plant fight so interesting. Will he struggle with a slick boxer like Plant or will we see something similar to the Saunders fight where he looks bad for a few rounds until he eventually cuts off the ring, puts the pressure on and eventually stops Plant. This will answer questions about Canelo. Has he evolved into a better fighter than the one that fought Floyd and Lara?? I think he has.
I do think people are understating how good Martin was here and overblowing how soft Mikey was (though he is obviously not focused anymore). I think a prime Mikey would struggle immensely, perhaps even lose a fight like this anyway just due to the style match up being horrible for him. Mikey has always had an incredibly basic offensive arsenal - basically a 1-2 merchant and even then he wasn't ATG at that. And you can't 2 when your 1 is constantly negated and countered. I think Martin could possibly be a dark horse type at 140, and he has stated he could even move down to 135 for good fights. I can't believe I picked Garcia over Loma at one point.
