What are some fights that you didn't expect to be very exciting? Basically fights that you completely overlooked because you believed it would have either been a one-sided mismatch or a snoozefest based on styles, but in the end turns out to be a damn entertaining one.

AJ vs Klitschko is the first to come to mind. Really thought it was going to be a boring, showcase fight for Joshua but it ended up becoming a HW classic.

Holyfield vs Foreman exceeded all expectations

Spadafora vs Dorin was thought to be a boring fight going in. The general consensus was that Spaddy was gonna outbox Dorin in a snoozer - like all his other fights.

It turned out to be a very good scrap. The only negative was that it ended in a draw, when Dorin CLEARLY won the fight.

Not actually a great fight, but PBF vs Maidana I was pretty good considering the expectations

    WTF!

Dorin won like 8-4. I've watched that fight several times. I could never see a draw for Spaddy.

I'm thinking Mayweather-Cotto is an even better example.

That was supposed to be a blowout. I remember the build-up on here before the fight - virtually all of us thought it would be a one sided beating with Floyd stopping him.

Cotto lost clearly, but he made it competitive, and exciting.

Same thing with the first Floyd-Maidana fight.

I remember people thinking Marquez-Casamayor would be ugly and boring, and unhappy about it being on PPV, but it turned out to be a solid fight

Good one. Even though Marquez was in control i felt Casa would find some cheap way out. The end was satisfying.

Very good example! I remember being totally disinterested going in, but it turned out to be an excellent fight.

Same as Spaddy-Dorin though, the decision tarnished it. Winky beat Taylor clearly.

Roy Jones Jr vs Antonio Tarver- I thought Roy was going to feast on another bum of the month type of opponent as he did at that point of his Career and all the fights turned out to be very exciting. I remember jumping up and down with joy when I saw Roy laying unconscious. But then I felt concern for all his possible orphan chickens he almost left behind.

Vitaly vs Lennox- remember that it took place in LA at the staples center or possibly the LA forum. But the crowd was lit and boy was it a great fight with Vitaly almost shutting it out at the end.

Funny, but RJ was never unconscious and the first fight fit the narrative a lot more than the 2nd (as we now knew Tarver was a menace)
