Who are some other fighters that should be mentioned as the most consistently exciting fighter to watch that have been in so many brutal wars over the course of their entire boxing career? Basically fighters that have been involved in at least 5 great fights or more. And also try listing those fights as well as I'll be sure to check them out at some point. Please do leave out Gatti as he is always the one guy mentioned when it comes to having lots of exciting fights.
@Xplosive you mentioned Joichiro Tatsuyoshi as the Japanese Gatti. I'll admit that I haven't gotten around to seeing many of his fights other than his losing performances against Sahaprom but I've read about just how many wars he's been in. And I know @roughdiamond is a great admirer of him as well. What are some fights from Tatsuyoshi that you guys would recommend me watching?
I long for the day when I'll able to use Johnny Nelson as an example in a thread, and I can see that this won't be the thread for it.
Cornelius Boza-Edwards - the most exciting fighter of the 1980s. Listing fights? His title win over Bazooka Limon His two fights with Bobby Chacon, particularly the second one His 10 rounders with Robert Elizondo, Rocky Lockridge, Terrence Ali... and some lower profile ones against Blaine Dickson, Guy Villegas and John Montes. Take your pick.
Both Rabanales, Yakushiji and Zaragoza fights. Singwancha, Torres, Okabe, and Richardson are all cool, too.
When Hall was being beaten up by Jones (a large part of why nobody gave too many fucks when Roy went South) Hall made it entertaining by demonstrating just how much of a beating he could take. His two fights with DM were wars. Unlike what Ponce Kellerman says, he lost both legit even though he should have won the second on the same grounds he lost the first. Regardless, they were hugely entertaining affairs. His war with JL was epic stuff and he had good fights with Harding. Tomasz Adamek was rarely in a bad fight. His wars with Briggs were HOF entertaining. Good action fights at Heavy and wars with Cunningham at Cruiser. Even the loss to Dawson was good action.
Fernandoid Vargas has to get a mention. Early/middle career he had some exciting KD’s and KO’s then as he stepped up later in his career he had some quality scraps up to the later rounds when he’d usually get slumped.
Not a great fighter, but always enjoyed Mayorga's fights, someone was going to get knocked out and the pre fight press conferences with him would be more entertaining than a lot of fights.
Shawn Porter annihilated the rest of his litter for deluxe suckles. He knows no better, and fights the same way. Y'all treat him like Jermaine Taylor. Attitudes must change.
I really liked Morales vs Injin Chi. There was a moment when Morales was frozen like a statue from a Chi right hand. Chi was really game, fun fighter.
I remember thinking Chi had a real chance of winning when he hurt Morales in the 6th. At the 18.40 mark, what a shit stoppage of the action by the ref
