There used to be a show in the U.S. called COPS (might still be?) that had cameras following officers around. It was fairly common for them to film traffic stops and some follow-up road-side sobriety tests. The alphabet thing was fairly rare. More common was getting them to get them to walk in a straight line, or close their eyes and touch their nose.

I wonder if they even bother with these sorts of tests any more with the availability of breathalyzers and if they do, why? Even if you're dead sober one could potentially fail such tests. If you were intoxicated i'm sure any decent lawyer could come up a myriad of plausible reasons why someone failed them too.

Weird goal at Old Toilet. Would not have happened under Ferguson. Referees knew their place back then..

Dortmund could be an absolutely awesome team if they could just sort out their defence. They were robbed against Bayern, just seen the highlights.

It's as i said earlier in this thread. They can hang with elite sides, but beating them is another. Poor defensively but also too error prone. You can get away with some mistakes against mid-level opponents, the top tier will ruthlessly punish you. Obviously having Haaland wouldn't have addressed defensive lapses but maybe just maybe they're not knocked out of CL. They still would have got undone in the knockouts being seeded second. Had they won today it would have been big, but i wouldn't have put money on them to win the domestic league either.

Numerous injuries and poor defense. There has been practically no such thing as a "regular" starting XI. Then as usual they're going to lose their better players to more monied up clubs in the transfer window. Not sure how any manager is going to "sort" that. Once anything looks like it's on the way to being sorted it gets quickly unsorted.

Any idea what accounts for Munich's financial dominance? It seems pretty oversized considering theyre in the same league and Dortmund pull bigger crowds. Does tv money get divied up differently in Deutch?

Munich was always a bastion of industry and banking. I presume there is mucho financial chicanery going on.

Not quite sure. Bayern have "old money" for starters. They also don't splash the cash on transfers like other European heavyweights in part because they're a bit more frugal, but largely it's because they don't really have to. Financially they're well ahead of everyone else domestically. They're also a bit of a "glamour club". Obviously not on par with Real Madrid in that area but similar in that players want to go there. They can wait out a contracts knowing in advance somebody will sign for them so it's another way they can avoid big spending in the transfer windows.

Whether it's a "free" signing or transfer the outcome is still about the same. You know how in a title race when two leading teams meet it's potential for "six point" game? That's kind of what happens when Bayern acquire a player from another BL side. They strengthen their own side while simultaneously weakening an opponent.

If we all loved that murdered kid we'd have known more about him and done more for him. Better to get every player kick up a weeks wages and take the knee for murdered kids than engage in these easy platitudes.

I obviously heard about what happened to that poor kid and glad his parents are being punished for what they did, but how did nobody at his school, or other members of his family, not notice his injuries over time?

People see things. But they say nothing. Everyone's terrified. Terrified of violent junkie parents, terrified of red tape, terrified of being demoted or "slapped down".

Every cunt has "rights" today and people just don't want to cross that line.

Left back Liam scales, goal on full league debut. Not seen enough to pass judgement but he's clearly a) athletic b) decent on the ball....if he's got a brain in head positionally he could turn out well for sellik & ROI.
