No. Better chance than Rolly had though. It wouldn't have surprised me if Rolly had gone out in the first round.
Neither had/has much of a shot. But the buzz around the Rolly fight was gonna be a lot bigger. Also, we wanted to see Rolly get wasted.
since I'm the forum joke around here according to Malcolm X ,,, I'll go with Cruz for shits and giggles. Unlike most, I don't overrate Tank Davis based on beating an undersized Santa Cruz or a paper champ like Mario Barrios. Yes, I get that Tank moved up in weight and knocked out a bigger man... but he struggled and was getting outboxed by a pretty limited titleholder. Unlike some people, I don't rate Tank that high. He's unproven at this stage and I consider him a contender. If I'm being honest Tank will probably win but I give Pitbull a puncher's chance and will at least make it a dog fight. Whoever thinks Rolly was a better opponent is an idiot, that guy is the worst literally the worst fighter I've seen.
I wasn't gonna order this at first, but the undercard is quite good. Guess I'll be ordering it. Hopefully Cruz makes it exciting while it lasts. It would be awesome if Cruz could pull the upset, but I dont see it.
You are actually right. I've been watching some Cruz fights today. He is certainly a better fighter than Rolly and has a better chance of pulling an upset. Dunno why I was thinking otherwise. In fact, Cruz would represent perhaps Tank's most impressive win.
I agree the way Linares put Haney on queer Street means anything is possible. But Haney is the better boxer by far. He can coast his way to an easy but boring decision. It depends on Haney he can make it as hard or as easy as he wants to. As for Cruz vs Davis. That will be the best fight of the weekend. Both guys are about the same size(height), both can punch. The difference is experience. Tank has faced the harder competition, he punches harder and has more tools in his arsenal. He's the better all around boxer. But I wouldn't count Cruz out to atleast be competitive with Tank. Fun while it last this is not going the distance.
Absolutely. Davis has no power for Diaz and needs to use skills. He has no way of bailing himself or keeping Diaz honest. rCuz could be completely out-classing Tank and still lose, and he could completely lose his nerve after taking one clean shot. That's just due to Tank being better than Haney, and having a better style match up. I think Cruz could potentially be the better LW here, although I never got round to watching Diaz vs Fortuna. Actually, I wouldn't even mind seeing Diaz vs Cruz. It'd be a pretty awesome fight.
Man you guys are way off. Cruz sucks and should get dispatched pretty quick. Hes not hard to find AT ALL and is going to need to have a monster chin to win this because he will be getting tagged by Tank regularly.
Cruz can punch too. You make it sound like Tank is hard to find. I agree Cruz has poor defense but he doesn't suck.
I'm about to go in on Tank. I've turned my back on the dude. Initially, I believed he was a very exciting fighter to watch and I couldn't wait until he fought some top fighters. I'm still waiting. "Cruz is a step up from Rolly." I've seen this take quite a bit. Well, Tank shouldn't have been fighting Rolly in the first place. Rolly is outside the top ten, Cruz is at 10. Cruz is ranked BELOW Linares. This according to BoxRec. Cruz is a prospect that isn't going to go anywhere, ever. Why has Chinny pillow hands Haney, Garcia (Bojado #2 in the making) and Lopez all fought better competition even though they are all 3-4 years younger? Why did I see a video of Davis putting his hands on a woman? Why did I see Davis hugged up with Broner, literally? Why did I see Davis eating in his restroom? Why was he smacking and talking with his mouthful in said shit room? Why do I see pictures of Davis fatter than my 70 year old dad? Why do I feel like i'm in 1st grade again getting aggravated on waiting on that dumb kid to read that sentence when I hear him speak? Tank in a recent interview..."I'll have a big fight in the next year or two" Yes, many of the things I mentioned are not boxing related, but they do give clues to his character, which in turn would give us clues as to why he's being so overly protected. I noticed these things, you know damn well Floyd has and much more.
If Tank was a bum, I wouldn't care that he's wasting his prime. He's a legit talent, which makes it so disappointing.
Is anyone watching this? I just found out Deverechenko is on the card. I'll definitely be tuning in. Its nice having boxing all weekend.
While REED Can't Disagree w/Anything You've Said, Tank's Life was Pretty Much FUCKED Before it Ever Got Started...Baltimore is a Certified SHIT HOLE... And Tank's Not Just a "Poor, Inner City Kid", He was a Poor, Inner City FOSTER Kid...Literally the BOTTOM of the Inner City Barrel...You Work in the "System", So REED Doesn't Have to Tell You Foster Kids Very RARELY Become Well Adjusted Adults... @ the CORE, Tank Seems Like a Good, FLAWED Dude...Wide Eye'd, Insecure, Easily Manipulated, w/Tangible Child-Like Qualities... Professionally, REED Blames Floyd... REED Doesn't Think Floyd Wants Tank or ANY Other Fighter to Even APPROACH His Exploits... When Dela Promoted Canelo, Did He HOG Canelo's Interviews, Press Conferences and Camera Time the Way Floyd ROUTINELY Does w/Tank???...How Many Times Did Dela Run Up to Canelo's Corner, In Between Rounds, to Offer "Advice"???... Obviously, REED Isn't in a Position to Rule Out the Fact Floyd Simply DOESN'T Believe Tank Can Beat Elite Fighters in his Weight Range, but REED's Convinced the BIGGEST Reason for Tank's Resume is Floyd's EGO... And Given Tank's Upbringing, Floyd Throws Just Enough Money, Glitz and Glamour Tank's Way to PACIFY Him... REED
It'd be nice if Cruz pulls this upset. Doubtful, but we can all hope. My head says Davis ends it inside of 6.
Unlike Haney, Lopez and Garcia Tank seems likeable. Tank doesn't talk a lot of shit. Why should he? he punches like a mule and he knows it. Mayweather does seem like an overbearing father figure more than Tank's promoter. He seems to control every part of Tanks life. Like recently he was telling reporters Tank shouldn't be wearing Canelo's gloves. I get why Floyd said it ...he hates Canelo but Tank is a grown ass man(27) who should be able to use whatever gloves he likes without his promoter getting all up in his business. If he has that much control that explains why he protects Tank so much from a real challenge. While the Kambosos and Haneys are fighting for undisputed Tank is fighting top 15 guys like Pitbull.
Tank is the least likable of all of those guys IMO. Teo might be arrogant and talk a lot of shit, but I think a lot of it is an act. He was a very humble guy on his socials prior to losing to Kam, and his pre fight interviews prior to winning the title was genuinely a decent guy. His dad was always a cunt, though. The last week has been damning for Teo, though. Haney's attitude change recently has been refreshing. I think he actually does want the best fights and while I don't think he'll win, seemingly being willing to go to Kambosos' back yard to fight for the undisputed title is refreshing. Tank for instance called out Taylor and still ruled out going to Scotland. Even Garcia, who has virtually no redeemable personality qualities at least hasn't throttled his girl on camera, in public. Davis is a POS and I don't buy that it's all Floyd's fault.
I never realized Deverechenko only had 13 fights and already faced Charlo and GGG. What's Andrades excuse . Adames is putting up a good fight he hurt Deverechenko twice.
Being that this is Staples Center, maybe Cruz should pray to the ghost of Kobe to help him out tonight.
