Entertaining scrap. Parker looked very sharp in offense and quite improved under Andy lee, but his gas tank is terrible and defense is poor as a result as he sorta gives up after throwing for half a round and gets sloppy. Was blowing after 3 rounds so that extra weight was telling. That said his game plan and offense was nice. Chisora was a warrior as usual, down 3 times but always came back throwing.
If Parker had the engine and balls, Chisora would not have heard the final bell. Parker has a good right hand and overall hand speed but you need more than that.
I always thought Parker had a balls issue too, but I think now it's his shitty engine - he doesn't throw because he doesn't have the energy to last, not cos he's scared of the counter is my theory. Parker was blowing hard after 3 rds, and from then on had about 60 secs of actual punching with intent and the rest hanging on and blowing. Getting hit didn't seem to bother him, rather activity did.
I'm old enough to remember when a fella could fight one round on and one round off. Pal Parker fights 30 seconds on and 300 seconds off I'm also old enough to remember when a boxer standing in the corner bent over was to guarantee a trashing Parker responded like a 5 year old being asked to empty a pond of Mercury with a sieve. Utter confusion followed by a brisk bout of hapless flailing.
Yeah Chisorah is not a puncher but his heavy hands keep people wary. Parker seemed quite happy being hit. He's got that rare ability to get sort of cuffed and take it. He's got confidence in his chin but he's totally confused by cagey opponents who stand off.
The way he just sauntered towards Chisora and let him punch out of the corner was pure fatigue IMO. Dude needs to hit the streets, clearly loves food too much and is doughy, probably has too much $$ and should maybe give up and become a truck driver. That said I think his game plan was solid, they had the shots loaded and Lee had good advice in the corner - but Parker has a lot of (road) work to do.
He's a Polynesian. They eat. Period. Never knew one of them with a gas tank worthy of the name. Explosive big hitters, but no tank.
Yeah, Parker would throw a flurry with intent when Chisora was in the corner, Chisora would then react and throw with rage himself. Parker then held back and that made me think he was exhausted and/or wary of what was coming back at him.
was amazed there was a fight involving parker and was still exciting. i think credit goes to chisora for that. usually, parker is boring as fuck to watch.
Is Eddie Hearn serious when he said Chisora beats Wilder if it goes past four?! I want to know what he's been smoking!
Chisorah is a fairly limited guy who has had a great many chances and second chance and third chances besides.. Wanksters be on the Internet now trying to make out that this guys some sort of legend who needs to be respected more. No. Slow limited guy with a good chin who, to the best of my knowledge, hasn't got a single world class win to his name. He's known for losing to guys who were better than him. Even if they were past their best themselves. Like Vitali. Jimmy nailed it when he noted how easily Pal Parker pushed him over. He looked washed up and washed out when Fury beat him in their rematch. He looked limited when Fury beat him in their first fight. I mean Ross Purritty had better wins and a better resume. His win over Wlad and draw with Morriston and strong showings vs Byrd, Sanders, Vitali etc is better than what Chisorah managed at World level. It shows you the power of management, good PR and a diminished talent pool. HE'S also got the WORST record in rematches that I can recall He doesn't just lose them, he disimproves on his earlier result
Harsh.....the guy's as brave as they come & always brings max entertainment. Cant imagine why any fan of the sport would wanna denigrate the guy after what he brought forth sat night.
He's a lunatic who was as game as they come and always came to fight. He's also as limited an 'elite' fighter you will find, who has lost to every single world level guy he has ever faced. His best win is probably David Price. Entertaining guy who was always with a watch? Sure. World class boxer? Not really. Legend? Don't be daft. MTF
A guy can be a legend for different reasons id say...... he'll be remembered fondly for a long time and i think he's earned that.
Semantics isnt it. A fan favourite who'll be remembered and talked about fondly for a long time. Like Henry Cooper or Micky Ward or any number of other non-elite sportsmen who gave fans outsized entertainment. 'Legend', something else....whatever you prefer
Chisora is a much worse fighter than Cooper and Ward. Being a fan-favourite isn't the same as being 'a legend'. Did you read the nonsense Bunce wrote? Among the many gems was that Chisora was 'a very clever boxer'. Does that sound right? MTF
Im not so sure chisora was worse than cooper, and especially ward. He was a top 10 guys for a ton of time, and he probably should have some wins against top5 guys if it wasnt for.some dubious judging
Cooper or Ward : exciting gatekeepers who, at best, flirted with top ten rankings - seem fair comparitors. Clever, not so much but thats Bunce for you....the voice tone goes supersonic, the enthusiasm hyperbolic. Chisora earned some hyperbole on his burger this week, clever, legend, dont begrudge it
Lol at some of this stuff, mind. Chisora has had precisely one world title fight, which he lost comfortably but got some deserved credit for being less out of his depth than was expected. He has beaten no-one better than David Price. He defended his Commonwealth title once, and lost. He challenged for the European title four times, lost three times and defended once the title he did win. Cooper was the undefeated Commonwealth champ for about ten years and made numerous defenses of his European title. I'm not having that Chisora and Cooper are on the same sort of level. Cooper was a fringe contender in the strongest HW era ever. Chisora was a fringe contender in one of the weakest eras ever. MTF
Depends what you file under talent as i guess. Being 180lb at heavyweight was quite a physical impediment to overcome even back then.
And got splattered all four times he stepped up to world level, excluding one famous but nonetheless solitary punch. Chisora fought both Usyk and Fury to competitive decisions at different times.
