I called it I said Bivol was going to give him a Boxing lesson like Shakur did to Valdez. Canelo has like a bully style if he can't walk through you or hurt you he has no plan b. He's physically limited and one dimensional that way.
I don't think he's a bully..... He'd have folded vs GGG if he was. But hes just too measured to be able to enact a rope a dope or inject massive pace to take a guy right out of his comfort zone.
I immediately thought that, too. "Remember that time where Canelo won by come from behind knock out against.... Amir Khan?" Yeah, that's real adversity
I'm still silently marvelling at the specialness of boxingfan's statement that what he took from Saul Alvarez losing a decision against Bivol is that Roy Jones wasn't a great fighter. It's like a Noel Fielding joke.
I very rarely make P4P lists anymore, but I think the best fighters in the world are: 1. Crawford 2. Usyk 3. Spence 4. Inoue 5. Bivol 6. Canelo 7. Loma 8. Shakur 9. Estrada 10. Fury Taylor and Fimo drop off for now. If they face off this year, the winner definitely returns to top 10.
Mine: #10. Briedis #09. Canelo #08. Stevenson #07. Loma #06. Estrada #05. Spence #04. Bivol #03. Inoue #02. Crawford #01. Usyk
I don't have much issue with that one. I was trying to figure Fury some love, but realistically, yeah he doesn't really stack up against the best fighters in the world.
They thought that by facing him against a bigger opponent who has belts in a higher division would result in a huge profits and will also please the Mexican fans.
I don't think Josh Taylor has much longer on the top 10 P4P. Not unless he can stay at 140. At 147, I really think the guy is food.
I’m not as high on Taylor as I was initially. Looking back, he should have never beaten Regis. I think it was a definite off night for Prograis. Ramírez was strong and tough but limited. Going to 147 would be suicide for him IMO. He’d be best off trying to make 140 lbs to fight Fimo but I have my doubts he can win that fight.
No comments on the bitch-ass behavior of a frustrated Canelo in round 11 when he lifted Bivol over his shoulder and almost tossed him head first on the canvas had not the ref intervene?
You should re read my post before you comment. I said I can't remember the last time I saw Canelo, Tyson and Roy dig deep and have a come from behind victory. Mike Tyson once said he was cut from the same cloth as Alexander, sonny liston and Dempsey . Thats good and dandy and makes for a great sound byte but the reality but is when he couldn't intimidate his opponents and had opponents that didn't fold he fell apart. The Holyfield fight is the perfect example. Same with Jones when Tarver asked Roy do you have any more excuses he fell apart because Tarver wasn't intimidated at all.
Booowhooo (sniffle)"Canelo paid off the judges and no way Bivol is getting a decision...its a boxing conspiracy"....blah blah. Pussy millenial boxing fans ptfff This didnt age well.
When was Roy ever behind before he started getting KO'd.? He fought valiantly while sick during Tarver 1 but I guess that's not good enough for you because he wasn't behind (that proves it wasn't as close of a fight as the scorecards but I digress). He gutted out and finished Tarver 3 even risking himself getting KO'd in the process, which almost happened.
Good call. I guess you're right it was a brutal fight that Jones did show some heart in. But some felt Tarver won.
