Has anyone notice the rise of fighters becoming undisputed lately? We've had Usyk, Canelo, Crawford, Taylor, and now recently Haney and Charlo becoming undisputed fighters. I feel like we are in an era where grabbing all the belts in a division is becoming more common and I'm so happy that we are finally seeing that happen. It really means that more fights are being made that matters with titles on the line. And now we are having Crawford vs Spence on the way for a fight for all the belts at WW. Inoue is on his way to becoming undisputed if he gets that fight with Paul Butler which is most likely going to happen. Hoping that Fury vs Usyk/or AJ also gets made in the future as well since that will be a big HW fight for the undisputed title. We seriously need more fights involving the best fighting each other for all the belts.
It's good for the sport and yeah it does seem like it's becoming a trend. I used to think Crawford and Spence were pissing their careers away for playing it safe and not fighting each other but now it seems that they are in a better position than say a guy like Canelo that jumped up and down weight classes to challenge himself but ultimately came up short to a naturally much bigger guy. I wonder if he would #1 p4 today if he had just played it safe and defended his titles at 168 against a weaker foe like a Charlo or Benevidez? it remains to be seen how much this gamble of moving up in weight class will tarnish his legacy.
I used to think it was important.....mostly because of what happened in Lewis Vs Holyfield I (fixed)and the immediate aftermath of the rematch (Lewis gets stripped) Back then it didn't seem "they" wanted an undisputed champ but they now seem to be much more keen on the idea.. I guess it's better for TV , you used to just have a title, any title, now it's bette to be unified at least.

Floyd was never the MW Champ. That's why Lineal is of limited importance in the right hands and of unlimited damage in the wrong hands. I welcome the Undisputed trend but i can have it either way. I know who the good fighters and what the good fights are.
Just being pedantic here but I don't think Floyd was ever lineal MW champ because he beat Canelo before Canelo beat Cotto?
According to money nutthuggers they are quick to point out Mayweather beat Bivol and All the euro bums at 168 by Proxy. Because he beat a 16 year old Canelo 20 years ago.
Yep, definitely a positive step in my opinion. I’m sure I could look at it from a cynical point of view and say it’s just a marketing ploy but I remember the 90s where even getting a partial unification was a rarity so I welcome this development.
mayweather jr makes an interesting point. his detractors are quick to mention he beat a green alvarez. then will also argue he beat an old chicanito hernandez. despite the fact mayweather jr was less than 2 years into his career at that point and 2 years younger than alvarez was when they fought. go figure
When Mayweather and Hernandez fought, Mayweather was younger than Alvarez was when he (Canelo) fought Mayweather. That was what he meant.
Yeah but with respect to Chicanito and may he rip he was not half the fighter floyd was. Facing a seasoned vet like floyd is no easy task.
Floyd was an accomplished amateur and a seasoned product even when he turned pro. Canelo developed on the job. Big difference.
