    October 2003.

James Toney was on a run.
He had just beaten Jirov,..and nonsensically moved up to heavyweight to take on an ex champ in Holyfield.

yeah, Evander was worn by all the wars he’d been in,…but he was elite 5 years prior!

and Toney made him look like a novice.

    never saw that coming

Really? Toney was pretty good and it's not like he was a welterweight. His fatass was already at heavyweights door.

My example would be pacman trashing de la hoya

My Pacman fight was him absolutely destroying Barrera. I had seen Pacquiao fight but thought that he was moving up to fight MAB a little too soon. He proved me wrong that night.

I didn't see a lot of Manny before that one and at the time Barrera was the man. Seemed like just another "title" defense. A worthy one and probably an entertaining fight, but like you say too much too soon for Pacquiao.

MAB simply wasn't ready for that kind of speed and ferocity. (how could he be?)

Mosley-Margarito. Mosley looked like shite against a shot Mayorga, yet against a younger Margarito he completely obliterates the shite outta him

Forrest-Mosley. Mosley was at the top of the boxing world while Forrest was a good but somewhat enigmatic contender. I didn't expext Mosley to get dominated like this.

    calzaghe vs. lacy

wasn't that surprised calzaghe won, but definitely did not expect him to dominate the way he did.

Remember Endocrine Etienne, the Black Boobster?? He was going strong and on the way to a Hollywood style movie/book deal as he came out of Prison and looked certain to get a title shot.

Then he ran into the totally awesome Fres Oquendo and was shockingly dropped repeatedly -i think it was like 7 times- and beaten .

Especially after the 1st round. Where it seemed it was going to be so easy for Holyfield ..

I don't think anyone expected Marcos Maidana to get anywhere, especially after losing to Khan and Alexander. Nobody thought he would end up embarrassing Broner and give Mayweather his toughest fight.

Maidana is one of those types that does a lot of things "wrong" but is very tough and strong-willed. Technical boxers some times have a hard time dealing with it because they can't anticipate the moves. They're excellent and punishing "mistakes" but it's easier when they're ones you've been trained to deal with and have seen many times before. Their rhythm gets disrupted.

Much different fight but it reminds me a bit of Mayorga-Forrest for somewhat similar reasons.

It seems Etienne is an incredibky talented painter. There's just no reason he should be dying in prison. Nobody with those skills, be it painting, fighting or in his case both, should spend life in prison. Seems he just couldn't behave. At all.

I knew he was locked up for the rest of his days, wasn't aware he'd taken up painting though. Just checked out his work and some of it is legitimately fantastic. Man, what a shame he couldn't have discovered that talent, or pursued it properly, when he was a free man.

I know. He was just too fond of pointing shotguns at tellers for money that was a fraction of what his paintings are worth.

His paintings are legit on the level of stuff that sells for 100k plus....and it's all original ideas and scenes.

wow. etienne is a helluva painter! he definitely has his own style that shows up in all his work. and he seems to like to paint scenes from early 1900s.

Some Prisoners Become INSTITUTIONALIZED and Simply Can’t Handle or Are Never Truly COMFORTABLE w/Freedom Again…

And Whether Consciously or Not, They Behave in a Way That Basically FORCES Them Back to Prison…

Prior to Boxing, Etienne was In Angola State Prison in Louisiana, Widely Considered THE Most Dangerous Prison in the United States…Shit was Sooooo Rough They Had to REMOVE the Free Weights Because Inmates we’re Getting Tooooo MUSCULAR for Prison Guards to Handle…

Etienne Seems the Institutionalized Type and Now That He’s Found HIS Version of Peace, Tranquility and Comfort, He’s Taken Up a New Hobby Which He’s Pretty GOOD At…

Not even saying this to be funny, but one of the biggest stresses of the "outside world" is paying the bills. Worried that if you lose your job, you'll lose your home. Cats in prison don't have to worry about that.

Of course, there's a lot of shit they DO have to worry about that we don't.

Yeah , i could see a guy like etienne, who made money, but probably all spent it, and was pretty much done as a top fighter, freaking out because he wasnt able to afford the same lifestyle he had for the last few years

Always a tragedy when a human being wither in prison with basically no chance of being freed. Especially tragic when those lives are ruined for garbage offenses such as drug dealing. In Etienne's case though, hard to justify he shouldn't be locked up for the rest of his days. He s obviously a menace to society
