Hope it's a good story and dialogue.... fuck the 17 cgi dragons...

 

Word. Definitely hope it doesn’t disappoint as I’m all in like a Trekkie is for Star Trek.

 

The last season of GOT left such a sour taste in my mouth that I have close to zero interest in yet another Westeros tale. I might or might not watch this.

 

Bitch shut the fuck up...you will watch.

 

The last few seasons weren’t that bad. Were the bad seasons as bad as the good seasons were good? No. So chill out and give it a chance.

With the level of shows they put out these days we’ll be lucky if it’s as good as the last 2 seasons of Thrones were.

 

True. Everything is so shitty now that even the last season of GOT looks like a masterpiece in comparison. Like I said, I am on the fence of this one and might watch the first couple of episodes (if the first one doesn't completely sucks) if I get a decent streaming link to watch as I refuse to pay HBO a dime again. Ever.

 

I agree with that, I don’t know how good they can make this series without a fully fleshed out book series to work with.

I also don’t pay HBO any money, I use my brother’s account for HBO max.

 

It's base of the book Fire & Blood series...but from what I have heard that book is just a plain/dry story of the Targaryen's and their civil war....not a pov story of many characters like Ice and Fire series...

So the dialogue could be lacking... No more Chaos isn't a pit, chaos is ladder, Fight every battle everywhere, A lion doesn't concern himself w/ the opinion of a sheep, Any man who must say "i'm the king" is no true king, Power resides where men believe it resides. Its a trick a shadow on the wall. And a very small man can cast a very large shadow,

 

Honestly I had totally forgot about this series.

Once again, I’m not watching any new trailers. I’m a stickler like that. At the end of a tv show I don’t even watch previews of the next episode if they show them.

 

Watched the most recent trailer and still have no interest. I will wait for real GOT fans reviews before I give it a try as critics and 'influencers' reviews are always bullshit sellout bias.

 

GEORGE RR Martin gives it two thumbs way up…course he might’ve a vested interest in it being successful… .

But he stop twitting & praising about GOT after season 4….so he’s not completely bias…

 

I will wait for your reviews and then I will decide. I am too fed up of forced PC BS 're-tales' into beloved franchises just because they have the power to do it. That "Rings of Power" crap I am not watching, not even if I get paid to.

 

They were horrendously written. The whole point was that the white walkers were the greatest threat that was ignored while people squabbled over the thrones. They were then summarily dispatched in one episode and we went back to business as usual.

Completely against every theme the story had been pushing up to that point and smacked of untalented writers who were bored and wanted to move on asap.

With that being said, I wouldn’t at all be surprised to find out that what happened in the show is exactly what the author was going to go with and after seeing it so thoroughly rejected, he won’t finish the books now. Let’s face it, it’s been 14 or so years, he’s never finishing this story.

About the author not finishing the story, I can see it from his point of view: by this time he has almost zero motivation to finish it as he already made a ton of money and knows that fans were mad as hell with the ending, therefore this book could flop in sales in comparison with prior entries of the saga. So there would be little surprises for readers and the risk of making them mad again. One of the joys of writing fiction is the thrill of anticipation, of the reactions "wait until fans read this!". When that personal factor is absent, then writing becomes merely a chore that you want to procrastinate as much as possible.

 

It begins....

 

Decent first episode. Still have low expectations considering the end of what was an otherwise great series.

 

Completely different people running it...and HBO wanted the series to go 11-12 season. It was the show creators/directors who wanted to move on to do shitty Star Wars that never happened...

 

I thought it was because Martin didn't write the books fast enough. Either way, no excuse for the bad ending. It's like they did everything the fans didn't want just to be "unpredictable". I mean Bran the Broken? Fucking trash.

First two episode have been decent….it’s a new show you don’t know the character u don’t give a shot about the character.

Deamon(whatever his name) is definitely the IT character in the show…the Ned Stark of season 1 hopefully he doesn’t die as quickly.

this show moves a lot quicker than GOT…it’s like seasons 6-7-8 . Ep 1 the queen dies…a new heir is name …episode 2 the king remarries…ep3 a male heir is born…

 

Pretty good so far.

The Viseryian section in the first episode was rough to watch. Too much fathers pimping their daughters, that “date” was just absurd. I like Otto’s character, he plays a good conniving dirtbag. Daemon is a good villain (or maybe anti-hero) too.

Rhaenyra and Rhaenys shitting all over each other in their conversation was good too.

I think the big time jump happens in a few episodes.

 

So you guys really think the show is why George didn’t finish the books? You’re giving him way too much credit. That guy was never going to finish those books. I don’t know if he got burned out or if the success tour killed his motivation but he had plenty of opportune time (ie years) to finish at least one book before the series finished. The fact that he never once made a single attempt to put pen to paper lets you know it was never going to happen. Some people can’t accept that and even now I’m sure there are enough of his fans still holding out hope he’ll do it.

As for the show. I’m thoroughly enjoying it. The third episode was my least favorite so far but it wasn’t that bad. The scenes of Deamon’s dragon in ep2 when he walks up the mountain making that dragon sound and then to an awesome close up and roar along with ep3 when they show him take off in flight I thought was some of the most impressive dragon shots I’ve seen. GOT had just as good if not better dragon shots but something about the different style of Daemon’s dragon had me rewatching those two shots a few times. And I’m not even in this for no stinking CGI visuals, so that’s just a bonus.

 

I know what you mean. It became very predictable. The final Episode was cringe. A let down after all those seasons. But looking back GOT despite all its flaws still ranks in my top 10 shows of all time right up there with Narcos, Breaking Bad, the Sopranos and the Ozarks.

 

Not really. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was his original ending but considering it’s been over a decade since the last book on the main timeline, I’m more inclined to think he just got sick of it and wants to move on. Maybe crippled by writers block so badly that he’d rather write or do anything else.

 

Aemond took that right hand like James Toney.

 

8 was a solid episode. The show is good but there is very little action. I'm guessing it picks up from here but there are only two episodes left also.

 

I hope those Strong boys have a growth spurt or two between seasons. They looks like little kids compared to Aemond..
