Every WBO IBF WBC and WBA heavyweight champion of past and present. How many does he beat? He beat Ruiz with clinch settings turned off. Who else does he beat?

He beats Usyk quite easily imo. Any Hw champion without a big punch and/or big size advantage, he's probably favorite or even money against. I also struggle to see a fighter as limited and plodding as Joshua, even with his massive size advantage, landing consistently on Roy (though he might need just one...).

The test here is quite simple: Jones father didn't want him anywhere near an old fat wasted version of Buster Douglas.

They knew something others didn't , or were blissfully ignoring.

Definitely not. Roy had a glass chin and lacked the size and had no reach or jab. He ain't pot shotting his way against heavyweights with a jab and reach advantage. He gets busted up quite easily against any decent heavyweight who fights using their reach and size

Chagaev, Byrd, Coetzee, L. Spinks and Lyakovich, he s a big favorite imo. Probably best Rahman, Weaver, Page and Berbick too, as well as Valuev in an horrible fight.

And I'm not even counting paper champs like Martin, Bent, Hide, Stiverne or Seldon (though Seldon would be very live), nor pre Ali champions like Braddock, Walcott, Carnera....

Roy just against these big strong heavyweights is just not a good idea. Roy was built like Zack Efron.

Possibly Primo Carnera and Jack Johnson. But any modern era HW champ besides Ruiz starches Roy. Not sure his chin holds up vs a true hw puncher. And please dont bring up the tyson exhibition because we all know Tyson was holding back.

I dont know if he had problems with rangy fighters with a strong jab imagine what Byrd would do. No way. People understimate Byrd because he lacked power but had enough mustard in his punches to keep them honest. I think Byrd wins by split decision.

1995 Foreman (the one that fought Schulz) was as much of a sloth as Joe Joyce, so he could out-point that version

Nonsense Roy wouldnt beat the shit out of any HW Champion let alone Byrd. He beat Ruiz with the help of a Ref but even then I wouldnt exactly call it a beating. He had one fight @ hw. And Byrd fought most of his career at hw with victories over Holyfield, Klitscho, Oquendo and Mcline. Roy beat possibly the worst hw champion in boxing history after Carnera.

Interesting logic. I hate ruiz and think he fought like a fagget but he has victories over holyfield and oquendo. Two guys you're touting on Byrds resume. The other two were no spine mccline and a flukish win over klitschko where he was losing most of the fight prior to the injury

    Make it make sense

Mike wasn't holding back to protect Roy. Mike was holding back because he's 55 years old and can't do shit.

I don't know what the point of bringing that up was. There's no Roy fan on Earth who thinks Roy would have a chance with a young Tyson.

Roy would have won in 03 though. Mike was shot to shit.

You and I both know that just because Ruiz had wins over Oquendo and Mcline and Roy beat Ruiz doesn't mean he beats everyone Ruiz beat. Apple and Oranges. Let's stick to the facts. There's a reason Roy only fought Ruiz and not defend his hw "title" against any other hw. Thats because there are weight classes for a reason. I could imagine Roy edging out a razor thin decision against Byrd but no way Roy beats the shit out of a prime Byrd. You're reaching.

Ruiz also beat McCline easily, contrary to Byrd who struggled mightily. Ruiz was a notch above Byrd and Byrd matches up horribly vs Roy imo.

I'd take Byrd over Ruiz, but I'd take Jones over both with any referee.

Byrd really was nothing special, I never got why people rated him so highly.

Nah, that man had to travel hundreds of miles to the arena before fights. Had to use his bare hands to hunt and forage for food along the way to stay alive. Most guys didn't survive or never made it on time unless they were good enough at navigating via the stars all the while suffering from tuberculosis.

From Mike Tyson’s heavyweight exploits, Roy Jones Jr.’s incredible prime years, Manny Pacquiao’s epic rivalries with Marco Antonio Barrera, Erik Morales, and Juan Manuel Marquez, to the next generation of fighters like Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia, boxing has a very rich history with loads of fights you can study
