A friend of mine was recently with 2 fighters that he trains in Colombia. They sparred a number of rounds with Azabache Torres, currently 15-0, all by ko. My friend liked the left hand of Torres, from his jab to his hook to the liver. He compared his power to that of ayoung Pipino Cuevas. Personally, I don't see that. He reminds me of Chavez in the sense that, in the fight that I saw (his 12th pro fight), he lands damaging punches, doesn't get hit much, and takes his time. I am taking into account that nobody saw Chavez until he had over 40 fights. My friend thinks that he is about 2 years away from being ready for anybody, and that seems accurate. I would like to see them bring guys to Mexico with more difficult styles- you like to have your guys struggle out of the spotlight. I see a big upside to this young man if they move him well. I would like to see him go rounds and struggle and look bad a couple times- that would mean more than another 8 kos.
There is actually a fair amount of video of him on youtube. In a lot of it he looks like a guy with potential that hasn't had many fights. But his 12th pro fight impressed me because the guy he fought was pretty good, and tried to win right up to the end.
