Right boxing puts too much emphasis on undefeated records. And its bullshit because most are built up and cherry picking.
I was going to put a disclaimer but you catch my drift. Its not just pbc other promotions do it like Eddie Hearn with Andrade.
I wonder if the overall MMA mindset about losses vs the boxing mindset about losses affects the fighters physically. Like sometimes you can have a guy getting KO'd or losing in boxing and you know he won't ever be at the same level as before. It's like losses affect individual boxers on a physical level much more than they do affect MMA fighters on a physical level. So MMA is showing that it's all mental. In boxing, fighters know their reputation is in tatters and their road back is probably longer and harder idk. It is something I have thought about quite a bit though. Why is a boxer more physically affected by a loss e.g a bad ko loss, than an MMA fighter.
i personally think the combination of excessive weight loss and the more sustained punishment boxers are subject to versus MMA (due to both the gloves and 12 rounds) accounts for the longer term damage from boxing versus mma.
MMA fighters don't take the same level of punishment as Boxers. While getting knocked out with a round house kick may look scary... it's the long sustained punishment (head trauma) boxers take over a 10 or 12 round fight that becomes dangerous. For as nasty as those MMA knockout reels look the sport it's self doesnt even hold a candle on how many MMA related deaths it's had compared to boxing. So that could explain why losses take a bigger toll on boxers than they do on MMA fighters. Boxing is simply more brutal and dangerous.
agREED… As Weird as it Seems, It’s Actually “Better” to Get Knocked Smooooove the Fuck OUT Than to Take a Sustained, Prolonged Ass Whupping… REED
