No doubt. Shocking decision by his trainer imo. Yes it was a hard knock down but he beat the count quite easily and Woods is in all probability never going to fight at this level again (so you don't take his championship away from him unless he's really done). Might be getting crazy but it seems it's becoming more and more common too with newer generation of trainers... like they want be part of the ''story''.
Yeah ingle was flawed but if he prepared right he'd do the job..... Thing is that in 2000 there was a load of good 126lbrs out there. Today? I can't even name the WBC Champ off the top of my head.
Continually bringing that up is fuckin stupid. I'm not gonna go over this for the 1000th time. I had a fight party for Davis-Romero, and I said that Romero would do better than Ryan will (which is possible). I never at any point implied that Rolly is some P4Pder. I don't bring up the fact that you that the last bum Tank made quit you actually thought he had a legitimate chance. I said from the jump that he looked like an average fighter against Colbert and he didn't have a prayer.
i never watched ingle fight so i cant rightfully say who would win that. his resume is certainly far from stellar.
i think magsayo will beat figueroa. him vs lara would be an all out war. actually whoever wins that fight vs lara will be a great action fight.
Not huge hype but a lot of people were looking forward to that fight when it was first announced last year. It didn’t disappoint. I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch.
Lara is a limited brawler but he’s a fun fighter to watch. Dangerous puncher. I would love to see him face the winner of Figueroa vs Magsayo. Either of them would be exciting fights for Lara.
Wood was just not good enough to pull off the boxing style without getting caught. Hamed would have embarrassed the fuck out of Lara. Hamed wouldn't be dropping rounds to Leigh Wood.
Wood looked good until the KO. He was winning for sure. Is Wood's trainer inexperienced? Seems like he panicked. Especially when you consider there were like 5 seconds left.
Obviously. There's been one featherweight since Sanchez who even has a fraction of a chance against him. And it isn't Mauricio Lara.
Wood is just a very talented but frail guy....fine boxer, lovely slick moves, just vulnerable. ....Wayne McCullough would be a featherweight champ today. Scott Harrison would have murdered that Lara never mind what Hamed might do. It cracks me up hearing about this rich vein of British talent when I can think of at least 3 British feathers in my own lifetime that would have lost to none of Wood,Lara or Warrington
I think so too.....with the right training and prep and maybe IF HE TOOK SOME....he could beat them . It's possible. Anything is possible. Fucking hell.....Sanchez could realistically fight both these guys on the same night and not drop a round.
Honestly, who cares about what sanchez would have done to these guys (pretty sure Double was trolling, and it seemd to have worked perfectly)
I didn't even mean a guy as good as Sanchez. My only point is that Lara is fun to watch, but pretty average.
Sanchez was a totally different breed and a really special fighter when we compare to today’s featherweights. Danny Lopez would have demolished Wood and Lara as well.
What did you think of the stoppage? Right call to throw in the towel or too premature? Gotta give props to Lara for turning the fight around even while he was getting whipped.
British fans tend to overrate Prince Naseem Hamed due to his flamboyant personality and his impressive record prior to his loss to Marco Antonio Barrera. However, his defeat at the hands of Barrera exposed his technical flaws and defensive weaknesses, which many British fans tend to overlook or downplay. While Hamed was undoubtedly a talented fighter, his performance in that fight left a lasting impression that has since diminished his reputation among more discerning boxing fans.
Angie sanchez got carried out of the ring at the grand olympic auditorium on a fuckin stretcher vs some guy with a losing record
