Agreed, but has Loma stayed busy in the gym?? Not sure at all considering everything going on in Ukraine and that he postponed a couple of fights.
Finally official. Loving the poster and it’s a fitting title. Definitely a chess match of the ages. Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenko official for May 20, history with one another adds layers to PPV fight
In the full chess position depicted, it's shown as Haney with a Queen versus Loma's Knight. Top Rank is already hinting at Haney winning.
Arum says if Loma wins the plan is already for Loma vs Shakur. He said if Haney wins, Haney plans to move to 140.
Loma vs Shakur would be a really good one if Loma does pull off the win. Haney moving up to 140 and 147 will be interesting with alot of potential opponents. I wonder where Haney goes if he loses to Loma. Just a damn shame that we might not see Haney and Shakur face off anytime soon.
I think the most logical next step for Haney if he beats Loma is a showdown with the Taylor-Lopez winner. Especially if it's Fimo, I'm sure TR would love to make Haney-Lopez.
Depends on what the loss is like. If it's a close 7-5 fight, and Haney elects to move up rather than do a rematch, then yeah I can definitely see Shakur vs Loma, and would love to see it. If Haney really outclasses Loma and makes him look old, then I could see Loma retiring. I also won't have any interest in Shakur-Loma if Haney dominates Loma, because all that will mean is that Shakur will give Loma a beatdown.
One of the most fantastic talents in boxing history. Too long and too many fights in the amateurs. started pro too late,..because he didn’t have time to develop professionally He could still win this fight…
Back in '08 Loma fought as an amateur in featherweight and absolutely blitzed his opposition. In '12 he had switched up in weight and mainly cruised, winning easily but not destroying people. As a pro, he shone at feather and super-feather but has never reached the same level at lightweight. For some reason he has kept fighting there, even though it seems he was small for a super-feather, never mind 135
Loma's very talented. I would highly disagree that he's one of the most talented fighters in history. I could name 20-30 guys just off the top of my head I would consider more gifted. Not all of them as flashy as Loma, but flash isn't everything.
I wouldn't argue too hard with anyone who says Loma is the greatest amateur boxer of all time. His record is sensational. Personally though I would still consider Papp the amateur GOAT.
Absolutely. In 08, he was Absolutely spectacular. He never reached these heigths again, as an amateur or a pro
So is this a prediction thread??.... Then I hope Loma can pull it off...the size difference is crazy. Next to each other it looks like Haney is a Welter fighting a 130 pounder, Loma is the better boxer, but he needs to fight for the full 12 rounds. Haney is going to come at him full throttle trying to impose his size, Loma can't run or throw 30 punches a round like his last fight, he needs to counter and turn Haney... Plus Haney father is turning into Teofimo father I would love to see his face if Devin get beat... Loma by Decision...
going by the training footage in these episodes Haney is training to be explosive and Loma is skying around the streets of Vegas or wherever he's at..
Guys, please start checking to see if there's already a thread on a matchup before you open a new one. It saves me from having to merge threads, which I now will have to do. And I'm expecting Haney to take a UD.
I fancy Loma might get a taste of what he dished out to Rigondeaux this week & find all his skills being totally swamped by size & youth. Im hoping thats wrong and its more competitive
That's the safe bet I believe. He might freeze, like he did for the first half of the fight against Lopez. I hope he wins, I like him, but I think it's unlikely.
