How do you see this interesting styles match up play out? Both good master boxers in their own way, one more technical and the other an athletic talent. Does Buchanan school Camacho using his jab and clever movement or can Camacho overwhelm Buchanan with his blinding speed?

The former. Camacho I think would be slightly up on the cards after about 7-8, but Kenny would outfight and outbox Hector down the stretch and take a UD. Given the way the fight would play out, the odds are better for Hector in a 12 rounder. In a 15 rounder, I pick Buchanan with very high confidence.

And no, my pick has nothing to do with Buchanan death sympathy. I would have said the same thing before yesterday.

Yeah, that above more or less. Any fighter who can be relatively discouraged or pushed into a negative survivalist mindset is unlikely to beat Buchanan imo. If you can outgut and outfight a gifted speedster like Laguna (slightly past his prime albeit) who himself had great resolve and determination to boot, you can outfight Camacho.

If anything, Buchanan was the better boxer and ring general too despite being slower of hand. His footwork was technically better than Hecs imo and wouldve let him set the right distance and angles to take charge with his jab once he'd come to terms with Camacho's speed and how to impose his jab around the southpaw stance etc.

Once he got motoring, be it jigging around and tripling up his left after ducking and diving away from the ropes, or alternatively making it into a battle of wills and endurance with some grinding infighting and mugging, I don't think Camacho would want any part of it in his heart of hearts and wouldn't be surprised to see him lose wide. That said, if he just kept letting his hands go without inhibition I could see it being much closer.
