Roberto Duran vs JMM in a best of 6 series. Who takes it? Both super intelligent in the ring. But I would go JMM winning this series and taking 4 fights to 2. thoughts?
JMM vs. Baby Bull. Now there's a close fight at 135. JMM was highly disadvantaged at 135. He wouldn't be shit to Duran.
ASSuming This is Being Debated in a Lb for Lb Sense, No Way Does Duran Beat Marquez 6 CONSECUTIVE Times... @ '35 Though, Yes, 6-0... Lb for Lb, Duran Gets Him 4-2, w/an OUTSIDE Chance of 5-1... REED
There's greats who could give him a run at 135. Pea, Ortiz, Williams, and to a lesser extent Chavez, but CERTAINLY not fucking Marquez. Dropped by Katsisidis Marquez.
I don't get the concept of a 6-fight series in boxing. This ain't basketball, football, or baseball. Just ask who would win in a single fight, both at their bests. In the case of Marquez, his prime weight was 126, anyway. But even in a P4P sense, Duran was better than Marquez at everything.
but it will only take Duran 1 fight 12/15 rounds to leave no doubt who is the better fighter. No rematch/trilogy/4th fight needed
Marquez's best attribute/talent was his counterpunching - Duran has him beat in his best area. Duran has an overwhelming edge in infighting, physical strength, defense, stamina, chin, body punching, quickness, and overall physical talent.
Yeah even if we’re discussing pound 4 pound, Duran is just so much better. I don’t see how he wins this.
Me neither. It's not just about greatness, but styles. Duran isn't as fast as Pacquiao but Manny wasn't much of an infighter. Duran wouldn't have to box even though he's an all time great. He could (and would) get inside and do damage which would leave little room for Marquez to utilize is counter-punching ability and timing.
Doesn't matter, because he beat a better fighter than Pacquiao, and did so as the smaller man, in the bigger fighter's prime. But most importantly, unlike Marquez, he did so steroid-free. Everyone on Earth knows that the piss drinking homo was juiced off his ass in the 4th Pac fight.
JMM is getting ridiculously overrated nowaday. He catches a severe beating, in all 6 fights, even if he might manage to make some of them mildly competitive. Not only he s not on Duran's level, he's smaller and Duran's all wrong for him imo
Exactly how I see it. Duran would just maul him on the inside. Probably quite easily too considering he's the bigger man (on top of being simply better).
Dont agree with the first part, but completely agree with the rest. JMM was too good to be simply known as the guy who had pac number, but he wasn't much more than that, especially above sfw. It's incredible how close JMM almost was a never was in boxing. A more careful ref stops him in the first round of the first pac fight, and he probably would have fallen into Bolivia soon after
