Sergiy Derevyanchenko’s fight against Munguia had me thinking about just how unlucky this guy has been during his pro career, with so many tough fights that didn’t go his way despite giving a good account of himself.

What are some other fighters whose career has been tarnished with “bad luck”, whether being in an era full of killers, constant injuries, being constantly screwed over by the judges, bad management, etc.

Lots of bad decisions, but during a stretch of his career, he was a happy loser

Lara should have wins over Tall Paul and Canelo on his resume.

Lara could have done more but he outboxed alvarez. Hurd was the first guy to legitimately beat Lars

Lara whipped Williams 8 to 4 at *worst

Ike Quartey. Robbed against De La Hoya and Forrest. Had the win over Lopez overturned into a draw.

Had fights agaisnt Whitaker and Trinidad cancelled.

He had some hard luck in his career.

I thought Lara won 10-2 against Williams. 9-3, best case for Paul. It was quite possibly the worst robbery oat.

Yeah I watched it and when I heard the 11 to 1 scorecard I thought it was for Lara, not Williams. It was bad.

Where is this "robbery" talk coming from? I used the word robbery to characterize Tall Paul vs Lara. Never described Lara-Canelo as a "robbery." But yes, I had Lara winning. A robbery is when the guy who received the decision has ZERO case for winning it. Never have I said Canelo had zero case for beating Lara. He had zero case for drawing Golovkin 1.

Quartey vs Forrest was a horrible robbery. Ike won 7 or 8 outta 10 rounds. How the fuck they gave it to Forrest I'll never know.

Ike vs Oscar was too competitive to characterize as a "robbery," but I did have Ike winning. He blew it in the last round though.

Oscar till this day is still crying about the Tito fight despite being on the end of receiving gifts against Pea, Ike, and Sturm.

    Fuck him.

Not just Oscar, that's pretty typical of most fighters. When they're the beneficiary of questionable decision the line is "i have nothing to say, it's my job to fight, the judges did their job ..."

Holyfield used that narrative when he was gifted the draw again Lewis. When he was on the short end of the stick suddenly he was more opinionated.

Tommy Morrison getting khtfko against light hitting Michael Bentt led him to losing about $6 million in a Lewis match which eventually leads to AIDS and death

That’s weird I too missed out on a $6 million fight with Lennox Lewis but didn’t suffer the same Aids/Death symptoms. Tommy must have done something else wrong too just a guess.

Tommy was the dumbest fuck ever. All he had to do was stay on his meds and he'd be like Magic Johnson, alive and healthy. Instead, he turns into a conspiracy theorist who thinks AIDS isn't real. He became a very lethal case of "fuck around and find out."
