Jones-Toney has to be one of the greatest virtuoso performances. Nobody could have done to Toney what Roy did that night at that level.

Duran-Moore is another one. Ref waited too long to stop it, though.

    You reminded by mentioning Laguna.

Laguna-Ramos is one of my favorite fights.

I like a mixture of great two-way fights as well as masterful performances and dominant beatdowns. Chico-JLC 1 and Trinidad-Vargas are probably my most rewatched fights ever.

The first Saad-Johnson 1 might be better than the rematch, but I just love the ending of an exhausted & bloody Saad overwhelming Marvin to win the title, and being so tired that he could barely raise his arms to celebrate. Plus, my copy of the rematch is also in better quality.

The whole plaster thing obviously is a question mark when watching Margarito-Cotto 1. I definitely don’t think Mosley was the first time he loaded, but I’m just not sure if he did against Cotto. Maybe he found it harder to do in Nevada.

Usually after watching a fight in full a couple times, I just watch my edited highlight versions of it

    Good list.

Easily Jones-Brannon is one of the top of my list for sure.

It's a short fight, and it's a mismatch.. but damn those 2 rounds have ALOT on display:
    - An intense attack by Brannon pushing Jones the taller fighter (wtf am I Teddy Atlas??) to defend on the ropes
    - Masterful defense, movement and parrying of shots and lightning counters by Jones with his back on the ropes
    - Paralyzing body shots by Jones delivered from a distance
    - Powerful multi-punch multi-angle combinations from Jones
    - An incredible will by Brannon to continue on after the realization that Jones is on a different planet
    - Showboating by Jones, bolo punches, shuffles, 'frozen' feints or whatever you'd call that
    - 4 sharp left hooks landed by Jones within ~1 second!!! (preceded by a stiff right uppercut)
    - An attempt for mercy by Jones
    - A heartless referee (that somehow still made the right call at the time IMO..)
    - A brutal KO
    - Larry Merchant stating without hesitation that Jones Jr is the best fighter on the planet :D

I’ve always considered that to be Roy’s “Cleveland Williams” fight, when a freakish talent was arguably at his absolute peak.

Roy throwing these short quadruple/quintuple left hook combos, and dropping Brannon with a left uppercut/double left hook combo.

It was Gil Clancy BTW who said right afterwards that Roy was the best p4p in the world. I liked him as an analyst on HBO.

I shutter to think what that version of Roy would have done to a Canelo or Benavidez.

I forgot to mention that freakish quadruple left hook! Added to my post.. absolute insanity!!

Gil said it first, but when they turned to Larry he actually agreed (he did give it his usual negative spin, but even he couldn’t disagree in the end..).

Forgot Leonard-Hearns 1: maybe the greatest ‘shifts in momentum’ fight ever. I find myself watching that one a lot.
