Not necessarily. If it hadn't been called a low-blow he might have gotten up. But in the least, it was an apparently devastating knock down.
He hit him low but the trunks are high so it kind of evens out. The thing is for me that had the ref counted, Usyk would have carried on. He only took the time once he realised he was getting time.
I don't agree. He was in serious pain. You don't take 5 minutes if you could have recovered in 10 seconds
Plus I earnestly warned all of you that they were building this up as the most dangerously unattainable task of all time for DuBois, thus permitting them to pull this OMG SHOCK UPSET bullshit routine later.
You take 5 minutes if you're being given 5 minutes.. You take 9 seconds of you're being given 10 seconds ...
I’ve seen the replay, and I’m with Irish. Obviously Usyk was in pain but if the ref would have started counting, he’d have gotten up and continued. The real story should be that Dubois QUIT after getting hit with a jab…
I feel the ''Dubois should have won'' logic is quite flawed. Sure it was a clean kd and Usyk stayed way more than 10 seconds on the nat but who knows how he would have reacted had the ref started to count?? But by the way he went down, it would have been a major crisis no doubt
Dubois QUIT...he wasn't taking a beating, he wasn't exhausted, he just didn't want to be there... Usyk would've gotten up if the ref started counting I have no doubt....but that was a legit body shot that hurt him. Just watch the next few rounds, he was hurt to teh body, and cover up every time Dubois feint to the body, and complain to the ref every time he was hit to the body...
Boxers wearing their trunks way too high as been going on for way too long. Time for the comissions/sanctioning bodies to give clear guidelines and enforce them. Some boxers wear their protective cup like a turtleneck who can forget DelaHoya- Vargas, that was just ridiculous (and I was rooting for Oscar big).
The NAVEL/"Belly Button" is the Line of Demarcation...The Cup/Trunks Should Be BELOW the Belly Button... Not Sure WHY It Isn't More Strictly and Consistently Enforced, But Leave it to Boxing to Make a MOCKERY of an Otherwise EASY Ass Rule to Abide By... REED
Don't know about sucks, but definitely not a p4p top-10 caliber fighter as he still is often listed. I can't see him beating Wilder and definitely not Fury. As for the heavyweight overall, it is pretty crappy but still much better than in 2007 or so, which was the all-time low point. It is still a big leap for the cruisers to take over
Most contrived boxing controversy off are times. Naval is the line, middle knuckles landed closer to dick root
Personally I think its the most entertaining its been since the 90s- maybe the champs arent as good but there are plenty match ups to be made by guys who come to fight, not clinch or stink.
I noticed this post-Saunders Vs Canelo....There's this network of organised spin and bullshit that grasps a flicker of narrative and puts it on blast until you got a raging inferno that obscures all and any other discourse.
Bro it's NAVEL don't be all Bellew It really was a 50-50 shot. There's no evidence that had it been called a legitimate blow that DuBois was ready to take Usyk out. That's hat annoys me. Not the argument about it being a good blow or not but the notion that Usyk was gone or ready to go.
Navel is the Line Unless… The Navel is Covered By the Belt Line… …@ Which Point the Belt Line is LEGAL. Usyk’s Navel Wasn’t Visible On That BodyShot, BECAUSE of the Belt Line… REED
Yeah I don’t know if the controversy is justified. That shot was certainly on the low side of a ‘good’ body shot. Usyk’s shoulder is fully dipped and still Dubois big heavyweight glove is still fully south of Usyk’s elbow tip. To me it looks like the impact is just above the dickroot which I’ve always assumed is ‘low’- not just strictly having your nuts piledriven.
I'll have to watch again but didnt look close to the dick root if you remember that his trunks are high and his waist band is at least 6 inches wide (with the words mom and dad on it, which was a nice touch, btw).
