Who would be more unbeatable: Thomas Hearns with an iron chin or Pernell Whitaker with KO power?

If you gave Hearns a granite chin and Whitaker a huge punch who would be the harder fighter to beat in your opinion?

 

Hearns with a granite chin without question.

I don't think lack of power was a big detriment to Pea. He hit hard enough to hurt guys and keep them off, and thats all he needed to dominate.

Hearns, on the other hand, was impeded by his lack of a solid chin.

You give Tommy the chin of Ray Robinson, and you're easily looking at Hearns being a top 10 all time fighter.

Some lanky fucker might be able to beat Whitaker with a killer punch by staying away, but I can't imagine a way how Hearns with Hagler's chin loses

Hearns with an iron chin for sure. As others have said, if you take away his one vulnerability then you're fucked. You can't knock him out or hurt him, and there's no way you're outboxing the cunt, so yeah, you're fucked.

 

Exactly. Even with a somewhat questionable chin, the only way Leonard was able to beat him was to walk him down and apply pressure, pressure, pressure, and walk through a hailstorm of power shots. Imagine if his chin was better.

Even at that, exactly how many welterweights do you give an honest chance of beating Hearns?

 

Not 100% sure on this one. Hearns wasn't too great on the inside so I could see someone beating him by out working him there even if he had a granite chin. Of course, getting inside against Hearns is a lot easier to say than do...

 

It doesn't make sense cuz if Whitaker has power he will fight completely differently

 

True, plus everybody would approach him differently in that case too
