Worst winning performance by an all time great in their prime

I believe there's a separation between great and all time great.

A "great" IMO is: Tszyu, Cotto, Lomachenko.

All time greats: Leonard, Duran, Roy, Monzon, Floyd, ect.

If we're separating ATG from great, then yeah, Ramos isn't an ATG. I didn't think to differentiate.

He's a top 25 featherweight though to answer the question and an arguable great fighter. I can't think of 24 featherweights who definitely rank over him, and he beat several ranked superfeathers and lightweights too. His opposition at feather is underrated - he battered most of the solid contender names of the era on the way to the title, crushed a very good champion (in tragic circumstances) and then hammered the very good Seki. People either forget of don't realise how highly he was rated in his own time and how shocked most were when Saldivar toppled him. He crippled himself making the weight and fizzled out a bit afterwards to the point where he probably underachieved.

He was a monstrous talent though and a better h2h force at his best than Tszyu and especially Cotto. It's interesting that Lomachenko has been mentioned, because Ramos would've been a potential nightmare for him imo.

 

Yeah, Ramos would beat Loma at 126.

Loma didn't peak until 130.

 

Disagreed, yes it wasn't a ''good'' performance in a textbook way but Cooper was a very hard puncher and Holyfield showed many of the attributes that made him a all time great in this one (while showing a more vulnerable side).

 

I don't think the point here is listing boring, uninspired performance by ATG or fights where they showed a bit of vulnerability, but the ones where the ATG in question looks like a borderline fraud

 

Leonard wasn't his usual self vs Kevin Howard, but he showed enough flashes to avoid being listed here imo (and you could argue the long period of inactivity meant that Leonard wasn't in his prime).

 

I think Oscar either fatigued or got bothered by his eye, and took some rounds off before coming back strong in the 12th.

But overall I wouldn’t put it as bad, as he was so sharp for much of it. I thought 140 was probably his best weight on a H2H scale
