I'd give Gavilan the best chance of any welter outside of Hearns. Not saying I'd favor Gavilan in a single fight, but Leonard ain't beating Gavilan 10/10. Gavilan had allll the tools needed to beat Leonard.

I maintain that Robinson beats him. I just think that Robby was plain better.

Leonard is the favorite over any other welter.

    Only Robinson for me.

I’ve heard some make an argument for Napoles but I think that’s far fetched. I can’t see it. Gavilan would have a better chance.

Can’t see any of the 90s welterweights doing it either.

Crawford and Spence get wiped out.

The problem for Napoles is that he didn't close the gap as QUICKLY as Duran. He had beautiful offensive footwork, some of the finest footwork in history, but he lacked the pure athleticism of Duran to so rapidly get inside. He also wasn't as physically strong as Duran.

He gives Leonard problems though, without history. No one has an easy time with a prime Napoles.

I don't think Leonard "wipes out" Bud. I think Bud gives Leonard a better fight than any other welter in the last 20 years. He doesn't win, but Ray would know he's had a challenge.

Spence? Yeah, Leonard destroys Spence. EJ is far too slow and mechanical for Ray.

Probably the only one who would be a favorite would be Robinson but that's for a one off. In a series there are probably 5/6 guys who have a good chance of scoring a win.

The Duran in Montreal would beat any Leonard IMO.

I'd also take Robinson over Leonard.

Guys like Gavilan, Griffith, Burley, etc aren't a pushover for anyone. I'd give all of those guys a better chance over a fifteen round fight than Hearns tbh. Even in their rematch, Leonard had Hearns all over the place in the last round; I think he'd have won that too if it was over fifteen.

Luis Rodriguez probably has a better chance than Napoles. Another spectacular Cuban, but also a natural and strong welterweight. Napoles would really struggle in the clinch with Leonard, on top of the difficulties already mentioned.

I agree that Rodriguez is a tougher fight for Leonard than Napoles.

    Ray said: "Excuse me?" lol

Lol. They're both just fuckin around. Like two siblings talkin shit. Ray and Tommy love eachother.

The only legitimate dislike in the Fab 4 that lingered for years was Hagler's dislike of Ray.
