I was about to say that boxing seems to be reaching new lows if people have to resort to Sean O'Grady fights. Even watching him as a commentator after his nose job was a struggle for me .
I doubt a casual like you has seen any O'Grady fight. His win over Hilmer Kenty was an excellent performance, and also a really good fucking fight in general. But when you only watch Canelo fights, you wouldn't know these things.
I'll be honest I've never seen O'grady fight. I remember him from Friday night fights that's about it. And I'm not the type that watches old fights. My earliest recollections of fights is probably Chavez and Tyson as a kid. It wasn't until my 20s that I started paying more attention to fights. That was in the late 90s I would read magazines, post in boxing forums, had all the boxing channels HBO, showtime, got the ppvs. I have a huge VHS collection of fights that I taped live, So I think calling me casual is a bit harsh. Am I as hard core into boxing as some of you? Probably not. Am I as knowledgeable? Hell no . And there's no shame in that. It is what it is. Lol
Well, if you ever have spare time, O'Grady vs Kenty is an action packed 80s fight. It's on YouTube, or it was last time I checked at least.
I've always wanted to see this fight. I guess film of it doesn't exist. Or if it does, it's never been posted. I've never seen it offered by any seller either (and ive checked), so I'm thinking it doesn't exist.
He was in that fight. In the grand scheme of things, he was merely a good lightweight. No one would ever accuse him of being great. He was well schooled offensively, and a very good body puncher. Defensively, he was lacking. And he cut easily.
There's that one fight he has with the Asian guy that is bloodier than any Gatti fight - has to be one of the bloodiest fights I've seen.
I shutter to think how much blood there would have been on O'Grady's face if Arguello had gotten his hands on him.
