It's already been 10 years since this classic fight took place when Marcos Maidana not only humbled then previously unbeaten Adrien Broner but also humiliated him as well. As satisfying as the outcome was the fight itself was very exciting and Broner did show some toughness as well.
Agreed btw that it is an underrated fight. All attention was on Broner's loss and the schadenfreude following it, but he definitely didn't pull a Derrick Gainer there
Broner is tough, I'll always give that to him, but it's mainly based off of this fight. He had something to lose and fought back. In subsequent fights he just shelled up and did nothing. Similar to Mosley in a way, although Shane was obviously in a different stratosphere as a fighter.
It was glorious to watch this. Probably the only fight Broner has shown a bit of heart, though. Even then, he tried to get Maidana DQ’d by faking a foul.
When you consider the broner, khan and mayweather fights, among others, it is clear maidana is a rare truth-teller.
