On fb someone posted who would win in a fight between Trinidad and Chavez. Obviously said Trinindad while a much lower level fighter skill wise was too big and powerful for Chavez and at 147 Id take Tito.
I wouldn't say that Trinidad was a "much" lower level skill fighter than Chavez. I would agree that the 130-135 Chavez was better than Trinidad in a P4P sense, but the gap between them isn't astronomical. Both were on a similar level offensively. Both had similar stamina levels too. I would say the separation lies in Chavez having a better defense and better chin. Well, Chavez also had better offensive footwork and a higher ring IQ (Trinidad's ring IQ gets underrated though). But Trinidad had his advantages too; namely better power and better handspeed than Chavez. But yeah, in a straight up fight at 147, Tito stops Chavez... brutally, I might add.
Yes. Chavez really had no business ever fighting above 140. For Whitaker, he weighed 142 and for the rematch with Oscar he was 144.
Chavez peak was 135. At 147 he wasn’t at his best. I’d definitely take Trinidad there. P4p I think Chavez is better but not by a whole lot either. Julio was special at 135.
