Makes sense. After facing a 154 lber and a 160lber, why not close out the pbc deal against a welter

It's basically the perfect matchup for Bud from every angle. He makes a huge payday, the styles give him a great chance of pulling it off, and if he doesn't pull it off, it doesn't impact his legacy at all.

Alllllll of the pressure is on Ginger. If he doesn't beat Bud, his legacy takes a big hit.

Legacy wise, Canelo would have been wiser to fight David. If he got whupped, it could have been spun that he lost to a guy too young and too big for him.

But if Crawford beats his ass (and he might) then Canelo will be remembered as one of the most overrated fighters ever.

I'm pretty sure this also sets the stage for Benavidez vs Morrell in 2024.

For Munguia, I guess the logical next matchup is Berlanga, assuming Berlanga gets through his next fight.

Crawford vs Canelo? At what weight? 155-160? Will Canelo insist on fighting at 164-66 Will Canelo come in at 185 on fight night?

Canelo is truly shook of Benavidez. There's absolutely no other way to spin it at this point.

But picking on a smaller man may bite him in the ass.

I wonder if it has to do with pride. He's not afraid to lose to a brother or a White guy, but he's scared at the prospect of losing to another Mexican.

So he's a small 168....but won't fight below it...won't fight THE #1 contender at 168(in 12-18 months that challenge will get harder if Morrell is the man)...and won't jump up a few pounds to run it back against Bivol...

    very good..

Crawford is, imo, a much better p4p fighter than Alvarez. If the size difference isn't too much to navigate, he'll have every chance of winning.

Canelo's ducking of Benavidez is simply disgraceful at this point.

Apparently, canelo's current strategy is, don't give up size advantage at any cost. He's lpinning his hopes on a size advatage.

Like I said, it's a foolish fight for Canelo. He has everything to lose. Nothing at all to gain. The opposite for Crawford. Nothing to lose. Everything to gain.

Canelo's legacy would have taken a far lesser hit if he lost to Benavidez. But if he BEAT Benavidez, his legacy would have sky rocketed.

Dumb decision-making by Canelo. Very dumb.

    I'm leaning that way too.

A fighter as masterful as Bud should be able to navigate Canelo's pedestrian offensive footwork.

If Crawford is in fact signed to face Canelo later this year I fear that he’s going to end up waiting himself out and not be active until he gets in the ring with Canelo. It would be a damn shame for Crawford to continue to just fight once a year.

He's definitely very good, but a step below great for me. Beyond some dubious decisions and other benefits one gets by being "A side" he's not one of those fighters you come away after watching as "wow" for somebody who is/was was top P4p in boxing.

It'd only be a damn shame if Bud was looking to continue going for years to come. He wants Canelo to be his final fight.

Exactly this. He's got no great physical attributes maybe bar a bit of strength. He's got no great technical attributes either. He's just well drilled and prepared well.

Bud will really have to be perfect though. In Canelo, he's not only facing more size, firepower, and handspeed than Spence, but Canelo also just a more skilled operator than Spence in general, offensively and defensively. But if Bud is as special as he seems, he'll neutralize the things Canelo does well.

Canelo is better than Spence but he too is rather predictable in his approach. It would come down to how well Bud carries whatever weight he’d come in at.

Canelo is the greatest plodder of all times. Honestly ....he'd have been fucked up by just about any marquee 160lbr ever. I'd love to have seen him deal with guys like Frank Fletcher, John Mugabi, the Bronx Bomber, Merqui Sosa, even dudes like Brian Barbosa, Andrew Council, Echols, etc.

Alvarez would've gave froch, Calzaghe, Eubanks, benn, Watson and Collins hidings

He has proven he owns these primitive UK stiffs

I hope Bud beat Canelo….but I think you guys are underestimating Canelo fight night weight…and if Bud gains 10-15 lbs he might lose some speed, movement and snap in his punches…
