Because at the time the U.S. was recovering from 9/11 and dealing with the war in Iraq. The American public could only handle so much trauma.
The real reason this fight didn't happen was the government. As Xplosive stated already the country was at war 9/11 was fresh.... The multi billion dollar war industry needs reason for wars... can't have these two fighting and show the world that conflicts CAN be resolved without violence
