Which is the best "on the ropes" finish of all time?

Foreman-Lyle ended with Foreman pounding Lyle unconscious in the corner and on the ropes. Ali-Foreman was all about the ropes right up until Ali got off the ropes late and outstruck a worn out Foreman. For entertainment value, Foreman-Lyle. For cultural signficance, Ali-Foreman. Ali became only the second heavyweight champ to regain the title (Floyd Patterson was first), and he did it against a young unbeaten juggernaut.

3 heavyweight KOs of the 90s that always stood out to me for its brutality were Mercer-Morrison, Tua-Ruiz, and this

I always remember that description, it’s a great one.

I think I’ve even repeated it when I’ve showed my friends that knockout.

Mark Johnson vs Arthur Johnson. Crazy combinations to finish the fight in one round. Probably the fight that made many fighters hesitant to face Too Sharp.

Oh yeah, poor fucking Dokes! Having his IQ dropped 30 points by Razor. Tua-Ruiz was a near decapitation. Mercer-Morrison was brutal as was Morrison-Ruddock, but Mercer-Morrison is top 5 heavyweight beatdowns of all time. That left hook from Morrison looked like it killed Ruddock, and the canvas appeared to wake him up.

I'll never forget the absolute dejection on the face of Moorer cornermen. It was literally the physical embodiment of "Dayummmm mike, shiiiit".

Jackson - Norris is a nice little stoppage on the ropes. I think it's the fight that ruined Terry's chin.

Yeah, it's always been a theory that I've held as well - that Jackson permanently weakened Norris' punch resistance.

Yes, against a fellow named David Banks. Miranda also had an altercation with Jean Pascal who was sitting ringside afterward. The fight never came off but weirdly, Miranda would have been a huge favorite at the time.

I think that was a Hamed undercard.

I'll always remember that as yt was the first time I'd seen, and taken proper cognizance of, how a fake body attack set up the head finish .

I'd seen Hearns Vs Duran but never fully recognized the value of the feinted jabs flicked at the midriff.

By the way Hearns Vs Duran is the GOAT rope stoppage.

I'd pay so much to see Hearns vs Charlo at 154.

All battered women would pay to see it also.

To be fair, maybe Terry's chin was never Chavez-like, but those shots from Jackson on a soft chin---I bet that fight permanently altered Norris because once you've been knocked out bad, your punch resistance is rarely the same. Simon Brown decked Terry with a hard jab. Only Terry's athleticism saved him from getting splattered more often, but eventually he started losing to inferior competition like Dana Rosenblatt---a guy he would have done a Paul Vaden on in his prime (shut out and enbarrassed), was beaten by a lesser fighter whose career feasting on dead fighters was on the upswing.
