Anyone else really digging Robeisy Ramirez? He won 2 gold medals at the Olympics, had a rough start at the pros when he lost his very first fight but has improved with each fight. Really liking what I’m seeing from him, just a fun fighter to watch especially with how he throws combinations from all angles. Also interesting that he has a win over Shakur Stevenson in the amateurs. His last fight he looked very sharp albeit against a punching bag but still a nice performance.
Ramirez still impressed imo. Some of those hellacious shots he set up were ridiculous. And if it hadn't been the final second of the round, that first knockdown would've been curtains.
Early in his career, it seemed Ramirez wasn't ever gonna be as good as he looked. He was starting to convince me otherwise with his recent performances but this is a huge setback for him, foty or not.
Wouldn't call it a huge setback, I think it has more to do with Espinoza being much better than expected. The fight was close enough for a rematch to be possible. I would like to see more of Espinoza after seeing his performance against Ramirez and eventually a rematch. Ramirez will be back. I think he could still beat the likes of Rey Vargas, Luis Alberto Lopez, and Brandon Figueroa.
Agree. Definitely a setback but it's not like he got exposed. And I too would love to see those matchups you listed. Actually, Espinoza vs. Lopez is very interesting as well.
Ramirez just couldn't keep up with Espinoza's high volume and seemed to rely too much on a one hitter quitter after knocking him down but didn't expect him to get up and take his shots well and in the process got dropped himself at the last round which most likely costed Ramirez the fight. Featherweight division has gotten hotter with the addition of Espinoza. I would love to see Espinoza vs Figueroa, that would be an all action packed FOTY.
It would be great if Espinoza cleaned out the division and became undisputed. Setting up a mega showdown with inoue in late 2025 or early 2026 Seeing how inoue could deal with a skilled 6'1 opponent
He looked good in his last fight. He has unfinished business with Espinoza and hopefully we can see a rematch this year or next.
