Ryan Garcia looks like Sal Mineo and he's gonna end up the same way.

I just think Ryan is a piece of shit. I don't wanna hear any substance abuse excuses.

I've known plenty of alcoholics and junkies who were good people.

Ryan is an asshole. So is his bitchass daddy.

It seemed decades ago like it was more of a New York PR thing but now it seems more widespread.

Going back to when I was in HS, I don’t know if I’ve met or been around any Tongas or Samoans that didn’t use the word freely. I think some people are too physically intimidated by them to try to say anything.

We've given Ricans a pass because most of em do have a good amount of Black blood in them. How you gon tell a MF that looks like Felix Trinidad that he can't say the N-word? Like when Camacho said "All yall n*ggas" after the Ramirez fight. It's okay, Hector's mom was very much a Black woman. She was Black as all Hell.

Mexicans don't get the same rights. They don't have Black blood in them.

Adding to my earlier point: I get the feeling that on the West Coast, Black and Mexican neighborhoods and culture are pretty segregated and contentious.

In NYC, Blacks and Ricans are intermeshed; we grow up together and share roughly the same experiences and similar culture. That's why they get a pass and Mexicans don't.

I remember the “controversy” after J-Lo said it in a song. I’m like, haven’t you ever heard a song from Fat Joe or Big Pun? (Or B-Real, a Cuban from South Gate, CA).

I guess it helps to avoid criticism when you’re surrounded by 50 Ricans with guns.

J-Hoe isn't respected by Ricans, let alone Blacks. Both of our cultures consider that bitch a White woman.

Now if a respected Rican woman whom the culture likes, like Rosie Perez, said it, all good.

From what I hear about Los Angeles, it wasn’t always like that, but became more that way. There were some well publicized hate crimes. The Mexican Mafia forced their gangs to kick out black members of some gangs there were integrated.

In the Bay Area, at least nowadays, especially San Francisco, they’re more likely to live in close proximity. Different races and socioeconomic groups living close, multi-million Victorian
houses across the street from public housing. Hunters Point used to be a majority black neighborhood but I see Latinos all over when I go there.

No real bad tension from what I’ve heard

I don't take offense to the comment about Mexicans and basketball, but it's incorrect to say that Mexicans don't have African ancestry.

Oh the Mexican Mafia forced their gangs to kick out black members? That must've been heartbreaking for those poor gang members. I can just imagine the tearful goodbyes... "Sorry, amigo, it’s not you, it’s the racial tension" They must be wandering around aimlessly now gang-less and confused. And as for San Fran it's so touching how multi million dollar Victorians share a street with public housing like a real-life episode of Sesame Street. So glad to hear there's no bad tension. Lol

In the areas that I grew up in and am familiar with, that is very true. The first time I heard Mexican guys using that word talking to one another, was in Texas and I couldn't believe my ears. Where I came from, if a Mexican guy referred to another Mexican that way, it was deliberate and it was going to kick off right then. I understand that it is common now and the guys my age that I still talk to from several different neighborhoods aren't real pleased about it.
As far as segregation, that is kind of curious. The area where I lived for many years, those neighborhoods grew up from work camps in the farming days. One street in particular, Ralston St, had a concentration of black families in the midst of a very serious Mexican gang area. They did their thing and everybody got along; those families had lived together for a long time. Even when the Ralston St guys started claiming Crip, that kept up. But when the guys in some of the apartment complexes brought their Crip thing to the neighborhood, it kicked off.

    Just depends where you are.

There are tons of hispanics in southern California all calling each other that, and noone says shit. Same in NYC with the dominicans/Puerto Ricans (although at least that one makes sense... kind of)

Like REED pointed out in this thread... your name is Ryan... you need to chill the fuck out. This is a case of thinking you're just so "in" that you can get away with shit.

‼️ Devin Haney has now filed a lawsuit against Ryan Garcia alleging “battery, fraud and unjust enrichment” relating to their fight in April, which was overturned to a no-contest after Garcia failed multiple drugs tests and was given a one-year ban. Haney is seeking punitive damages and the lawsuit alleges: “Haney suffered damages in that he suffered physical injury, reputational damage which will amount to millions of dollars, and emotional and mental distress.” [@BoxingScene]

There have been plenty of boxing lawsuits but have there been any similar to this? Panama Lewis and Luis Resto went to court but that was not a civil case.
