All pale in comparison to the next chapter in the Mexico vs PR rivalry.

    Final predictions?

My final prediction is that we will continue to see a drop in excitement in this rivalry.

To Mr. Brother Puerto Rock's Point, the Fuuuurther Removed we Get from the Level of Fights X Noted, the More Fighter's Seem to CLING to the Rivalry Itself, as a Lame Ass SELLING Point...Shamelessly Attempting to Attach THEMSELVES to History...

Every 3rd-4th Word Out of Berlanga's Mouf' is "Fat Joe" or "Puerto Rico vs Mexico Rivalry"...

Maybe Edgar can walk out with a hologram of Pun. Or would Pun's hologram take up too much room?

    I am ordering btw.

Lara figures the beat the piss outta Cherry Garcia, and Plant will beat the piss outta this Maga guy he's facing. That plus Edgar getting destroyed is good enough for me.

Canelo by KO 6, Round 1-2-3 Canelo will be walking Berlanga into counter, by round 4-5 Canelo will be walking him down, with his hands down playing w/ him.

This is such a glorified mismatch. Even a Canelo that grows old overnight beats Berlanga up.

All right let’s just get this straight. If by some cosmic twist of fate Berlanga actually knocks out Canelo we might as well rewrite the history books. I mean forget Gomez vs Zárate and who even remembers Tito vs DLH anymore? This would be the GREATEST Puerto Rican vs Mejico victory of all time...no contest.

Think about it. Berlanga taking down Canelo would be like David KO'ing Goliath with boxing gloves. It would be the ultimate Puerto Rican win. Why? Because Canelo isn’t just another great Mexican fighter... he’s THE MAN greater than Vargas, greater than DLH and dare I say greater than Zarate? If Berlanga actually pulls this off we’re talking instant legend status. So yeah if Berlanga somehow sends Canelo to the canvas just crown him the King of Puerto Rico and call it a day. They'll rename the island "Berlanga-Rico"and they'll throw a fiesta that lasts longer than hurricane Maria's blackout.... It’ll be the upset to end all upsets the win that makes every other Puerto Rican victory look like a warmup. And you know what? Canelo is so good that even this hypothetical is a win for Puerto Rico.

I think it s a stretch to say Canelo is greater than De La Hoya and Zárate.

That said, even if by some miracle Berlanga wins, he would never win the hearts of the people on the island. He simply does not have that connection to them in the way that Trinidad, Gomez, and even Rosario had. If he wins, most people are gonna say(rightfully) that Canelo slipped just enough for him to pull it off.

Gomez beating Zarate is the number one PR vs Mexico win by a huge margin. At least from PRs side. Even if Berlanga did, by some miracle, dominate and KO Canelo, it still wouldn't top it. Hell, I'm not even sure it'd top Gomez's win over Pintor.

    This fight sucks shit.

Zarate was seen as as invincible when Gomez destroyed him. He was considered by many as P4P #1, or no worse than #2 behind Duran.

Canelo is past his prime and has had his ass handed to twice THRICE - yes, the first Golovkin fight counts.

No one sees Canelo as invincible.

Good point his stock went down since the Bivol fight. It still would be a nice win for New York/ Newyoricans lol.

I don't know about "Pale" ......Trinidad Vs Vargas was very well anticipated, both undefeated, both "looking for it", and it got made with absolutely zero delay or bullshit, certainly far easier than Oscar vs Tito. Plus there was genuine considered belief that either man could win, not just fan-boy blind faith.

Of course you're being sarcastic lol

But.....Canelo might well have beaten Vargas but there's no way, no fucking way at all that Bumlanga beats Tito.

    Trinidad absolutely ices that guy.

Canelo is now on the "Ricky Hatton" spectrum having flipped from not as good as people thought to nowhere near as bad as people are making out.

What counts against him isn't his talent it's his style.

That conservative economical style just seems beatable and arguably has been looking shaky in his biggest fights.

Seems like we all hate Alvarez and just pray every fight that he gets beat.

For the last hour,…I’ve been sitting here thinking,…based on skill and accomplishments, is there 5 greater fighters than Canelo?

    65 fights…2 losses.
    4 division champion.
    Never been stopped.
Only losses to two undefeated fighters.

I never warmed up to Alvarez,….but he is criminally underrated

5 greater fighters? There were probably 5 greater fighters sleeping homeless outside 5th Street Gym Miami in 1962.

Inoue, Usyk and Crawford are certainly better than Alvarez right now. Bivol beat him soundly. at best that puts alvarez at 5th. then where is he if beterbiev KOs bivol?

Bivol is arguable. Yeah he beat him clearly, but he's a much bigger guy. And for all the hype around Inoue, his opposition is so poor that i can clearly say that hes better or better than clenelo
