Oscar de la Hoya vs Felix Trinidad - 25 year Anniversary

It’s been 25 years since these two met. Till this day do you still think this was a big robbery or did you agree with the results? There really should have been a rematch to settle the score.

I was rooting for Tito at the time, have to be honest though I thought Oscar had done more than enough by the point he went for a jog, and should have got the decision.

 

Honestly DLH should’ve won that fight against Trinidad. He outboxed him for most of the fight..like clean, crisp jabs and movement. Dlh was making Trinidad miss a lot and controlling the ring. That’s what boxing is about.. hit and don’t get hitright? He was in control for the first nine rounds easily and even though he backed off in the last few rounds he was still making Trinidad chase him and Trinidad wasn’t landing anything significant.

People say De La Hoya was running at the end but he was just being smart. He knew Trinidad had power so why stand there and trade punches? He fought a smart fight. Plus...if you look at the stats De La Hoya landed more punches, with a better connect rate. Even guys like Teddy Atlas and Larry Merchant said Oscar should’ve won. Atlas said it best "De La Hoya did everything you’re supposed to do to win a fight." The judges just got it wrong that night. De La Hoya was in control for most of the fight and Trinidad didn’t do enough to take it from him. My two cents .

 

I never got the hype on Tito. Limited guy.

 

It's interesting this is some hotly debated fight like it was a classic battle or a masterpiece. It was neither. Shitty fight. Delahoya dominated the middle rounds 5,6,7-8. Other than that nothing really happened.

He's a fun fighter to watch but beyond that, he was too one-dimensional.

 

At 147 and 154 Tito was devastating. Legit or not, his power was overbearing for opponents. And he always threw combinations. And his jab was underrated too.

Totally disagree. ODH vs. Trinidad was not stink. It was boxing.

 

I thought the fight sucked. DLH's fights with Ike and Mosley were much more entertaining imo. I've always had it a draw, but I think I could see more leeway towards De La Hoya winning than Tito. It's too close to call a robbery imo.

Smart is one of the last words I'd associate with Oscar.

 

Quartey delahoya was another boring fight for 10 of 12 rounds

 

Oscar was overrated as an exciting fighter.

The only DLH fight that was truly a great fight was Mosley 1. So his most exciting performance was a clear loss.

I guess his most exciting win would have to be Vargas.

 

How exciting was DLH? He was the king of ppv and the face of boxing in the late 90s. That exciting.

let’s be real...comparing Shakur to legends like De La Hoya and Trinidad is a joke. De La Hoya vs Trinidad was a huge fight with everything on the line. Sure it wasn’t the Hearns/Hagler 2 brawl we all hoped for but when you’ve got two of the best going at it .. it’s more like a chess match. Shakur on the other hand hasn’t even proven himself yet. He hasn’t fought anyone and holding a belt doesn’t make you elite. How can you compare a fight like that to Shakur vs De Los Santos where nothing is really at stake?

Once Shakur starts fighting top level competition and starts building his own legacy maybe we can talk. But for now you can’t put him in the same conversation as two Hall of Famers. Simple as that.
