One of the most even fights I can remember watching.

    Thought beterbiev won 4 5 6 7 10 11 feel like 8 and 12 were close calls.

Bivol was barely getting hit but wearing damage and especially towards the end looked like he was just trying to get to the bell.

    Great high level fight.

Wouldn't have minded either one getting the nod.

Good comment made that Beterbiev made a point of closing out the rounds with aggression, which makes it more difficult to score.

Didn't see it, can't say shit as of yet but the controversy is probably something we could do without.

Anyway in other news, Jai Opetaia dispatched another idiot (who went 12 with Joseph Parker).

Back on Beter/Bivol, I'm curious to see the press row scoring....Mannix had a draw, USA Today had 115-113 Beterbiev, Hearns and Drunk Werren had it to Bivol.....

The win itself isn't that controversial. It was a very close fight. The controversy I'm guessing is the 8-4 card, which was a ridiculous card.

Watched closely, but didn't score. Glad Beterbiev won, but seemed like it could go either way.
Very much seemed like a fight where being in person could make a difference. Punch power is different in person.

Is there no rematch clause? I tend to believe an undefeated fighter who loses should "always" take an easy tune-up for the next fight.
However, this would be an exception. Both should be fine to jump right back in with the other and try again.

I feel like Beter would win comprehensively in a rematch. Bivol doesn't exactly have a lot of tricks in his bag.

Beter will be at least a year older….Bivol isn’t knocking him out but he landed a few stinger.

I say Beter fights the winner of Benevudez v Morell in June/July…

Not to beat a dead horse but semi frustrated seeing this on multiple websites and hearing from multiple people i know. People constantly scoring with how the fight seems rather than round by round than adding them up.

    Clear rounds 1 2 3 9 bivol
    Beterbiev 4 5 10 11 12

Rounds 3(which seemed to me clear bivol) and round 6 a few in here who scored fight for bivol mentioned that is was very close maybe artur edged it with pressure.

Round 7 bivol was pounding him for 2 minutes than got hurt and ran(only time in fight he seemed actually hurt) most people online scored it for beterbiev.

With 5 clear rounds and just that one swing round it's a draw.

If someone clearly loses 5 rounds and there are several other close, I don't really understand why 115 113 is fine but 116 112 isn't. 116 112 is totally a reasonable scorecard.

This isn't pacquiao bradley or something similar where the scores don't even seem possible. The judges just favored Beterbiev.

This fight could have gone either way but I’m happy for Beterbiev getting the nod. Close fight where Bivol started strong until Beterbiev took over in the end. A rematch would be welcomed and it’ll be interesting to see what adjustments Bivol can make.

Also that being said I watched with someone whose opinion is credible who thought bivol clearly won 7 5 and maybe 8 4. Even thought bivol won the last round.

Just the whole calling every fight a robbery. This was just an even fight and could be fixed by judges scoring more even rounds in my opinion.

Very clear rounds 1,2,9 for bivol 4,5,11 for beterbiev and the rest even.

Regardless who you thought won I still think it’s impressive how Beterbiev remained highly competitive even in a chess match that’s supposed to favor Bivol. Beterbievs ring IQ is impressive, especially with the adjustments he made.

I wasnt particularly impressed by either fighters. Yes they are quality, but i think they are a few pegs below the greats of the division

Finally got round to seeing it. It was an excellent fight. I had Bivol winning it, but Beterbiev's late surge made it incredibly close. I don't really have an issue with Beterbiev getting the nod, but like others have pointed out already, 8-4 Beterbiev is a silly card.

    Trinidad delahoya :Jest:

Except that it was an excellent fight between 2 guys who both upped their stock. Not some boring overrated disappointment of a super fight

I wouldn't say it was excellent. It was an intriguing tactical fight, but the action was a bit lacking

I meant in the sense that in both fights it was a boxer vs a puncher dynamic...where the boxer controlled most of the early rounds but eventually got tired, slowed down and allowed the puncher to take over in the championship rounds.

    You guys kill me.

Ok you're right it wasn't a good fight. Neither fighter is any good. They never would have been able to hold Jean pascals spit bucket.

May as well have been watching curling

Bivol impressed me a lot last night, more than Beterbiev despite how close it was.

I think Bivol would probably edge it out if there is a rematch. Beterbiev is definitely past his prime and Team Bivol would likely be better prepared for the pressure.

Are these guys on the Marvin Johnson/Spinks/MSM level or on the Maté/Conteh/Finnegan level?

Or are they on the Calzaghe/Hopkins/Tarver level?

Good fight, I didn’t score it but came with the impression Bivol did just a little bit more. I guess Beterbiev’s punches were making a bigger impression ringside than on the tv. Glad he won though, I was rooting for him. Is there a rematch clause?
