What's everyone's thoughts on Browny? He just fought last weekend when he stopped Jukembayev. Is he ready for the big boys of his division such as Jose Ramirez, Prograis, or Taylor? He's a relentless power puncher, crude but also dangerous fighter to deal with. His defense sucks given his constant come forward style but he is a fun fighter to watch. His fight with Ananyan is a barnburner. Sadly he also killed another fighter back in 2019.

He definitely has potential, just needs to tighten up that defense.

I thought his defense was reasonably good saturday considering how aggressive he was. He's also a dedicated and accurate body puncher. In fact, despite the criticism he gets for his technique, he's a very accurate puncher in general. I also don't buy into the idea that he needs to put his body into his punches more, etc. The guy's won everyone of his fights but one by knockout. Clearly, power isn't a shortcoming. Plus, I think his technique contributes to his quick release and ability to put punches together well.

I saw his tragic fight in 2019 live but did not see his loss after that, so not sure if it's relevant or not to your question, but I don't think the guy he lost to was anywhere close to as good as the guys you mentioned. But again, have not seen it so don't know if it is relevant or not. Was he knocked out in that fight?

Good fighter, very entertaining. Nothing to go mad over, but definitely one to watch. I wanna see him in with Ritson, Ergashev or Giyasov.

    Matias would beat Ramirez IMO.

I don't think he would beat Taylor or Prograis.

Matias is a beast man. Really fun fighter. Hoping he gets a shot at the big boys soon.

Pure beast. Really fun to watch. Don't think he'll amount to much, but I'll watch every second of it

One of the few ''must watch'' fighter in boxing currently. Inoue is another one I can think of.

Yeah, there are a few "catch every fight" fighters for action, in boxing right now for me, and Matias is one of them. Hence why I was pissed the other night when I didn't catch it lol

Some of the others would be Estrada, Cheeseman, Makabu, Zepeda, Figueroa, etc

Finally a champion at 140 pounds. Can’t wait to see where he goes from here, there’s plenty of great fights to be made for him. I think he can give all the top fighters at his weight pure hell. What a crowd pleasing fighter.

    He retired in his stool.

Matias was too much for him.

I think Matias gives every 140 fighters huge problems. Just relentless.

Decent enough to give any current 140 pounder a run….and take the strap from a few. I’m looking at Haney…

Ergashev was VERY Confident at the Weigh-In, Repeatedly Reaching For/Touching Matias' Belt, Even After it was Obvious Matias WASN'T Cool w/It...Ergashev MATCHED His Weigh-In Energy @ the Beginning of the Fight Too, Coming Out Guns Blazing, Rocking Matias a Time or 2...

But Just as Matias ACCLIMATED Himself to Ergashev's Shots, Stopped Fighting Off HIS Backfoot and Dished Out Hurt of His Own, Ergashev's "Leg" Became an Issue...What's Funny is Ergashev STOOD the Entire Time Afterwards, During the Post-Fight Activities:Jest:...

REED Ain't Seen MUCH of Matias, But He's Obviously TOUGH and Obviously Hits HARD, Which Means the ELITE Of His Division Will Keep Him @ Arm's Length Until They HAVE to Fight Him...Good Thing Is, Matias Has a Belt Already...Keep Knocking Off Mandatories, Impressively, and Enough Public Demand Will Build Eventually...

If NATHAN Else, Matias' Title is a Bargaining Chip, ASSuming Anyone of Note Wants to Unify/Become Undisputed...

Agreed, a bit surprised actually that Matias has not a bigger following, especially with the Puerto Rico angle. Guy has a ridiculously entertaining style and while he might not be elite, he's in the ''very good'' category at the very least.

Is anyone else looking forward to Matias vs Paro? It’s on the same day as Tank vs Martin and taking place in Puerto Rico. I know people are gonna be more focused on that fight since that’s a bigger event but Matias vs Paro is a fight that’s most likely going to be very entertaining. The only question would be how many rounds Paro will last and if he’ll be another opponent that succumbs to quitting on his stool.
