I'm not sure i favor anyone from any time period 100% against Usyk. Some guys just win. He has looked like he was toast in several fights than immediately sets the record straight... never really hurt badly, high workrate, underrated power. He's fighting guys alot bigger than him and getting it done. Of course Foreman, Tyson, Ali, probably both Klitschkos, Lennox Lewis would be favored to beat him. Also depends on era, I think someone actually making fight ugly would give him real problems if it were allowed.
That type of fighter. More ATG at cruiser, feel like he is outgunned due to power at heavyweight. After his first two at heavyweight I thought I had overestimated him, but seeing him now I think originally i was right. Alot of really good outboxer types had tough matchups against lower quality fighters but came up golden vs top tier guys.
Yeaaaaa... let's not go overrating Usyk now. Prime versions of Ali, Tyson, Holmes, Lewis, Foreman are 100% locks to beat him. Those 5 guys are not the absolute trash that Fury and AJ are.
Of course this is true. But guys like Tyson and Holmes never really even fought anyone with a comparable style to Usyk. George Foreman near his prime lost to Jimmy Young over 12 rounds...but Usyk no chance?? Don't get me wrong I take Foreman over just about anyone in history, but the match ups would be strange.
Word. I might be in the minority, but I'm not hugely impressed by Usyk at HW. He's beaten what's been put in front of him but what's been put in front of him isn't very much. Furry is the best HW he's beaten and he's a daft, undisciplined fat cunt who's two greatest strengths are that he's massive and he's got a natural gift for being involved in fights. AJ is a stiff mong who would have struggled to beat fringe contenders from the 1990s and Dubious is...dubious. Usyk is skilled, crafty and has plenty enough to beat this sort of lineup, but his fundamentals and skills were commonplace in previous eras where 'being a giant' wasn't the main selling-point for being ranked at HW. I've seen nothing that persuades me that he's got enough to beat Tyson, Lennox or Holy, for example. I think all best him, each in a different way but equally handily; Tyson would uppercut and body shot him horribly, Lennox would 1-2 him for 12 rounds and Holy would work him inside all night. MTF
80s Tyson and Lewis would probably be the worst style match -ups for Usyk you could think of at HW. 70s Foreman being another.
The only way Usyk belongs in a conversation with all time greats is if one of them needs their bags carried. All he did was beat two overrated bums in 4 close enough fights and got ko'ed by Dub Dub.
Fury was able to walk Usyk into uppercuts when he could be bothered to throw them. Imagine what Foreman would do... MTF
Phenomenal? Lol That would be ko'ing stiff or dominating the hype jobs. Not going 48 close rounds. Actually even then it wouldn't be phenomenal... The big three of the modern times AJ/Fury/Wilder are nowhere close to great. They're big names with not so big skill sets. If Usyk beats big names of the 90's then his accomplishments are phenomenal.... as it stands they're just pretty good.
