I was thinking, the amount of great wars in the Super Bantamweight division is insane. I imagine everyone on here knows the biggest of them, like Gomez vs Pintor and Morales vs Barrera 1, and most will know Marquez vs Vazquez. But there's dozens of all-time great fights at the weight. Honestly, the amount of great fights there is comparable to ANY of the 'original eight'. So my question(s) to you are simple. Who are the most entertaining bantamweights ever? (Gomez, Barrera and Morales don't count, too obvious) Which wars are their best?
Gomez was the most exciting imo (also the best). My favorite super bantamweight war is Nestor Garza vs Kozo Ishii.
Nestor Garza also had a war with Bones Adams.....ugly ass Zaragoza had great fights and Junior Jones was almost never in a bad fight at 122.
Which itself wasn't as good as the Imperial Japanese Navy Vs Pearl Harbour ....what a fucking war that was.
Wilfredo Gomez... 30+ Wins, 0 Losses, a Draw, ALL 30+ Wins by KO @ Super Bantam...To the Point of the Thread, Super Bantam is a VERY Exciting Division, But THE Most Exciting Super Bantam is an Easy One for REED.... Wilfredo Gomez... REED
There was a Time when "Gomez by KO" was the SUREST Bet in All of Sports, Not just Boxing, SPORTS!!! REED was a Child @ the Time, But the L Gomez Took to Sanchez was No Less SHOCKING to Witness in Real Time...Gomez Simply DIDN'T Lose and he KO'ed Everybody On Top of That, Literally... Sooooo Even as Sanchez was Whupping Gomez's Ass, REED Confidently Sat There, EXPECTING the Inevitable "Gomez by KO" to Eventually Materialize...Whenever REED Rewatches Sanchez-Gomez, a SMALL Part of Him Still EXPECTS Gomez to Win... REED
Gomez would have wrecked Morales, Barrera, and yes, even Inoue. To be fair, I'd give Inoue a better shot against Gomez than MAB or Morales, due to his power.
Daniel Zaragoza due to having been involved in a lot of excellent fights. Paul Banke 1 & 2 Kiyoshi Hatanaka Seung Hoon Lee Chan Yong Park Joichiro Tatsuyoshi 1 & 2 Wayne McCullough Erik Morales
Wasn’t much of a war to be honest. Bones Adams boxed his off. Besides the Kozo Ishii fight Garza also had a great fight against Enrique Sanchez.
Mahyar Monshipour should be mentioned. Not the most skilled fighter but always entertaining. His fight with Somsak Sithchatchawal is his most well known fight but he’s also been in wars with Salim Medjkoune, Yoddamrong Sithyodthong, Julio Zarate.
No, not resume wise, but I think he's a better natural puncher than they were and therefore would have better odds against Gomez.
