Some of the players they had back then, it's actually nuts they went trophyless.

You'll piss the league mate. It's all done.

Everything fell for us today. Everyone in a B&W shirt was at 100% and you were about 20% off it. It was the only way we'd win, and so it came to pass.

Six foot wide gadges in tears up here. We're in a genuine state of shock - not one bloke thought we'd win today and we've no idea what we're supposed to do. We've decided to drink heavily - it seems the right thing to do

The mad thing is, I'd back Keegan's side to beat these 9/10.

We had to get past a generational Man Ure side to get it done, though, and we didn't have the stones to do it. I've said it before and I'll say it again - if we'd won something back in the 90s, it would have changed football. That style of football looked inevitable, then was discarded as worthless. It was neither but it was something different.

Up in the NE. I've child commitments so my wild west days are done. Been drinking heavily since the bairn went to her mother's at 3pm and will be a long night with the pool lads.

100% agreed. As a neutral everyone was rooting for you guys, and it would have been an amazing "I told you so" for pure attacking football. It's kind of strange, I heard Scholes and Neville dismiss 90s Newcastle as an "interesting" side which was almost doomed to fail. I mean, I get it, out of everyone involved they are the ones who can talk shit because they did win out eventually, but you were 12 points behind. It was more than "interesting".

I felt it was on after Liverpool did 120 minutes for nothing Vs PSG. It kind of just aligned. Not taking anything away from nufc.

Also the timing of the opening goal.

But in a way I'm kind of glad NUFC got over the line.

Hahahaha it's called the Coningham Arms, but it legit looks like a pub in the epicentre of Chernobyl. I think I posted about it on here before.

It's easy to say that as the winners, but they weren't saying that when they got fucked five zip at our place six months after their goalie saved them from a hiding.

Venables went for the same approach at Euro 96. Three at the back, five out and out forwards and we were a Gazza stud and a post away from Keegan being proven right. They both lost, so it was 'interesting'. Bullshit. A couple of key moments and our game would have changed, massively.

    For N
For NUFC, what normally happens is we turn up in numbers and then collapse. This is a generational thing for us.

That match and the Barcelona 5-0 over Real Madrid in 2010 or 2011 are genuinely the two most "perfect" performances I've ever watched in my life following the game.

I really want Atalanta to win Serie A, in the same way I wanted Parma to do so in the 90s. It looks like they're just going to fall short in the same way. There's just that one team who is better.

Well we'll see if this is a corner turned as it were. Right now tbh I don't see it as quite that but with 5 points separating the top 9 bar Liverpool, a lit of teams will really be thinking they might just be on the cusp of something really huge like Everton were in 1986.

Forest are 2nd. Liverpool are "winning" the league. The Manchester's are shit. Ashton Villa are in the CL quarters. Newcastle have their first silverware.

A lot of things are there for a lot of taking.

You could have Brighton picking up a lot of money.

Who knows. With the ructions in Manchester especially with this Sir Jim character, who knows. It really could all 'be up for grabs now"

I still can't believe all of the players Brighton have sold in the last 3-4 years.

It's such a strange strategy. Selling player after player in their prime rather than seeing what they could accomplish together on the pitch. But they're still there competing and doing well in cups.

The worst part of this is that of all those players, Everton ended up with Neal Maupay.

De Zerbi was sacked and it wasn't because he was failing. I think he stood up to the owners and asked them to stop selling every good player they have. In turn, they showed him the door.

Yes but they're trapped in a relegation spiral because of those policies. Same as Wigan and Bolton. They were FA CUP and Top 6 respectively.

What does this have to do with Brighton? You can replace their name with virtually every club that wasn't going to be in the "super league" and you could include some of them too.

I don't think they had anything like the scouting and analytics infrastructure Brighton do under Bloom, mind. They're about as well run a club as there is in europe. Comfortably mid table again this year, profitable/sustainable

Brighton could have a shite year and go down one year and there'd be no crisis, they wouldn't have to panic sell or anything. They'd just bounce straight back and start cruising around mid table again. Those big sales give them that insurance/cushion imo. For a club the size of Brighton that's the end of your rainbow man, you can't be doing better than that
